Lucius Irizarry,
Lucius, a 7th grader on Team One, has been selected as Student of the Month for his creativity, kindness, and positive attitude toward learning. Lucius describes himself as creative and kind, qualities that are clearly reflected in both his artwork and the way he treats others. He enjoys watching TV and drawing in his free time, often using his creativity to express his ideas and imagination. Academically, Lucius is motivated to improve his reading and math skills, showing a strong desire to grow as a learner. He especially enjoys English Language Arts and values it because reading and writing are important life skills that help people communicate and succeed. Currently reading The Outsiders in class, Lucius continues to build his love for literature. With his goal of becoming a famous artist one day, Lucius’s creativity, determination, and kindness make him a wonderful role model and a deserving Student of the Month.
Camille Velez
Camille, a 7th grader on Team One, is a wonderful choice for Student of the Month because of her positive attitude, creativity, and dedication to both academics and extracurricular activities. Camille describes herself as funny, smart, and creative, qualities that shine through in her involvement in soccer, basketball, theater, futsal, drawing, and reading, as well as the strong value she places on spending time with family and friends. She sets meaningful goals for herself, including improving her basketball performance by increasing her baskets per game and strengthening her ball-handling skills. Long term, Camille is highly motivated to earn all A’s throughout her schooling, improve her focus, and responsibly save money for college. She is currently reading The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera, a science fiction novel, which connects well to her favorite subject—science—because she enjoys how experiments evolve and develop over time. Camille is also deeply appreciative of the teachers who support her, especially Mr. Lucas and Mr. Sellers, who inspire her through their understanding, kindness, and encouragement both in and out of the classroom. Camille’s hard work, gratitude, and well-rounded character make her an excellent role model and a truly deserving Student of the Month.
