I Hope Everyone is Enjoying the Snow! ⛄ ~Mrs. Mead

What Do I Do on Snow Days?

For many teachers, a snow day is a chance to get caught up on lesson planning, grading, cleaning, or spending time with family. We miss the students and hope that they are safe--and of course, doing some homework and reading a good chapter book in between making a snowman and watching television! At the end of this newsletter is a poll to find out which winter activities are your favorite --we will go over it on Friday.

I like to read or snowshoe on snowdays!

My cozy couch sits in front of a window where I can read and watch the snow fall with a warm fuzzy blanket and my two cuddly dogs, Lucy and Flip. I am in a book club that has been together for over a decade! We get together once a month. The person who chose that month's book hosts the meeting at their house and provides a yummy dinner. This year we each chose a book about a different part of the world, and it has taken us on a really unexpected journey. We talk about the authors, the plot, the characters, and share our opinions. Very similar to what we do in the classroom!

I used to like to snowboard, but due to an injury it is a little painful, so I took up snowshoeing. It is fun to go for a hike with friends and family and Lucy really loves the snow, too! The mountains are so quiet when it is snowy and you can hear the crunch of snow under your feet. Did you know that there are places where you can rent snowshoes to see if you are interested in the sport? It is a fun family activity for people who are not quite able or willing to hit the slopes on skis or a snowboard.
