A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Celebrations! 🎉

We packed in a lot of learning during our four-day school week. Students are busy becoming readers, mathematicians, scientists, writers, inventors, artists, musicians, and explorers of history and the world. We are delighted to see our students come to school each day curious and engaged in learning. We know when students challenge themselves and maintain positive self talk, they can accomplish even the hardest of tasks. Modeling positive self talk when we experience challenges as adults, can help our students build resilience and grit.

This week, some classrooms participated in a cup race challenge. In teams, students had to work together to move a cup with strings attached, through the maze on the floor. The cup had to stay on the ground and was not allowed to go over any lines. Students had fun strategizing together how to make it along the pathway.

Fire Prevention at PES 🚒

Today, the Phippsburg Fire Department will be visiting PES for October's fire prevention month. Students will get to meet many of the volunteer firefighters who help to keep our community safe. They will also get an up close look at a fire truck and ambulance. Thank you to Shana Ferrara and the Phippsburg Fire Department for visiting PES!

Wildlife Park 🦌

Last Friday, Mrs.Hutchinson's first graders visited the Maine Wildlife Park. Students are studying how animals survive and grow, and what adaptability qualities they need to survive during the winter months. Students had a great time meeting some of the many animal inhabitants of Maine.

Save the Dates 📆

November 21st will be our give thanks community lunch event; more information to come.

December 19th at 5:30 will be our winter concert event.

Thank you for sharing your learners with us. Enjoy this beautiful long weekend! 🍁

Best regards,

Nina Willette
