You will no doubt be aware of the horrific incident involving three Auckland Grammar boys this week, leaving the local and wider community in shock.
While full details have not been released in order to respect the privacy of families, it is clear that this is an appalling incident and that the families concerned will be deeply affected.
I want to acknowledge this traumatic event. I know that all at MENPS will be thinking of the staff, students and families who will be so deeply impacted by such a senseless and tragic act of violence in our local community, with hopes for a speedy recovery for those involved.

Maths Week
Next week is Maths Week. This event is a reminder of the fun, challenge and real-world problem-solving that lies at the heart of our approach to teaching and learning in maths, supported by a wide range of activities across the week organised by our Maths Week team. It’s a great opportunity to reinforce positive attitudes to maths and ensure that every child sees themselves as a capable mathematician.
Y1 & 2 Productions
These are always memorable events to be a part of as we come together to celebrate our budding stars on the big stage! We hope to see all our Year 1 and Year 2 families there to enjoy the performances.

MENPS Walking School Bus
We are getting our MENPS Walking School Bus back up and running and in light of recent petrol prices think this is the right time for it. We have 2 routes that we will be launching. The ‘Henley Route’ and ‘Prospect Route’. Please click on the link below to find out more information about them and to sign your child/ren up for them. Initially they will run in the mornings but we are hoping to extend to the afternoon buses if we can have more parent volunteers.
If you are able to help be a parent supervisor for either of these routes or would like to start one around your area, please email lucym@mteden.school.nz We are looking to expand the routes we have but it all depends on the parent volunteers we can get. Thank you to those who have helped get these walking buses up and running.

Uniform Shop Appeal – We Need Your Help!
Our second-hand uniform shop is running low on larger sizes. At the moment, we have plenty of sizes 6–8 (and some size 10), but we’re receiving regular requests for sizes 12 and 14, and our shelves are looking very bare.
If your child has outgrown any clean, good-quality uniforms in these sizes and others, we’d be incredibly grateful for your donation. Your generosity helps keep school uniforms affordable and supports families in our school community.
Donations can be dropped off:
* At the school office during school hours
* At the hall during late afternoon/evening pick-ups
* At the PTA room during Uniform Shop opening hours
Thank you for helping us keep our Uniform Shop stocked and supporting our MENPS whānau!

To celebrate opening CRL soon, we are offering tickets to 'CRL First Look' events. These events are free public open days at Auckland's three new City Rail Link stations. Tickets are free, and you can book up to six tickets per person for a one hour session. During your one-hour First Look session, you'll have the rare opportunity to walk through this impressive station before trains begin carrying passengers. Enjoy entertainment and activities celebrating the local community while discovering how the City Rail Link will make journeys faster, easier and more connected for generations to come.
Keeping Mount Eden Road Moving
We’re getting ready to seek feedback on proposed improvements to Mount Eden Road, as part of our wider Keeping Central Auckland Moving campaign, see flyer attached.
The campaign brings together proposed changes for Mount Eden Road, Remuera Road and Sandringham Road, aimed at improving bus reliability, traffic flow and safety as central Auckland continues to grow.
What are we proposing on Mount Eden Road?
Mount Eden Road supports nearly 30,000 journeys every day and is one of Auckland’s busiest bus routes. With Maungawhau Station opening as part of City Rail Link, we also want to make it easier and more reliable for people to connect between buses and trains.
We’re proposing practical changes that make better use of the existing road space, including:
connecting and extending sections of existing bus lanes
- starting the afternoon bus lane heading away from the city at 3pm instead of 4pm
- improvements around Normanby Road and Puke Street for buses, pedestrians and people cycling
- three new signalised pedestrian crossings
- changes to clearway hours and road markings around Stokes Road and Essex Road
- removing or relocating some bus stops to create more consistent spacing and improve efficiency.
Full details and maps of the proposed changes will be available on the Keeping Central Auckland Moving webpage when engagement opens.
Have your say
Public feedback is open from 27 July to 23 August 2026.
We’re also holding three drop-ins:
Remuera
Saturday 8 August, 11am–1pm
Remuera Library, 429 Remuera Road
Mount Eden
Saturday 15 August, 10am–12pm
Mt Eden Village Centre, 449 Mount Eden Road
Sandringham
Wednesday 19 August, 5pm–7pm
Wesley Community Centre, Timohia Room, 740 Sandringham Road
These are informal drop-ins rather than presentations. People can come along at any time during the session to view the plans and ask the project team questions.
We’d appreciate your support sharing the engagement with your communities and networks once it opens.
If you would like to meet with the project team or have any questions, please get in touch.
Ngā mihi,
AT project team
