Dear MGA Families,
In times of difficulty, communities reveal their true strength. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This truth has been at the heart of Monarch Global Academy over the past several days.
It was with profound sadness when I shared the sudden passing of one of our beloved staff members, Mrs. Rhonda Owen. Mrs. Owen was an extraordinary educator whose passion for teaching was absolutely infectious. She devoted her career to ensuring that students with disabilities received the exceptional education they deserve. Her warmth, dedication, and unwavering belief in every child made a lasting impact on our school. We will miss her dearly, but we are comforted knowing she is in a better place.
During this incredibly difficult time, I want to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude to our MGA families and the entire community. Your kindness, your messages, your support for our students and staff, and the way you have wrapped your arms around our school have strengthened us more than you know. We are truly lifted by your compassion.
As we move forward together, please continue to keep Mrs. Owen’s family, our staff, and our students in your thoughts. We will honor her legacy by continuing the work she loved so deeply, which was supporting students, celebrating their strengths, and advocating for every learner.
Thank you again for being a community that shows up, stands together, and cares so deeply. We are stronger because of you.
With gratitude,
April Murphy

🛑Important Message Regarding Bus Service🛑
From the desk of The Driven Group....
As the transportation service provider for
The Monarch Schools in Laurel, Glen Burnie and Annapolis it is our responsibility to provide the daily transportation for the students of families that utilize this option. Though it is rewarding, there are many challenges to facilitating it. One of the most challenging part the responsibility has been to recruit, train and maintain staffing for the routes that has been required to complete the tasks. Over the past few years, we have had a decline in the number of qualified people available that meet the certification requirements of AA County which has caused some disruption in services for some of the routes.
We understand the inconvenience of having the transportation service not arriving on time to the designated stops and or having to do double back causing you as parents / guardians be late for your daily activities.
To that end we have established a transportation hotline to give real time information on bus statuses, problems and or concerns, this line is not to be used for making changes for the transportation of your student that attends the schools, you would still need to reach out to the administrations at the school the student attends for those services.
