WEEKLY HAWK
May 18-22, 2026
Message from Mrs. Lloyd
Hello Homestead Families,
Another last-minute spirit day! We have our CCHS Seniors who went to Homestead coming for a clap out on Monday afternoon. If you are able, have your student wear Creek gear or Red, White and Blue!
Last Monday, Homestead was honored with the John Irwin School of Excellence Award. This represents one of the highest levels of academic honor a school can receive in the state of Colorado. It is awarded to schools that exceed expectations of academic achievement over a three-year period across Math, English Language Arts, and Science.
Last week, we had so many visitors come to see our learning! PreK had the most adorable continuation where they were "sliding into kindergarten" and doing a craft with family. In 1st grade, families joined for the Author's Celebration where students shared writing with their families. In 3rd grade, students proudly presented their state projects to their classmates and families. Additionally, 5th grade had the exciting opportunity to work with Christian Automotive and get their hands on car parts and engines! Finally, Field Day had perfect weather to accompany all the fun activities that Ms. Brownell planned! The students were pumped up all afternoon and had the most amazing time. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and support their students at school last week.
Additionally, the community garden is getting refreshed and ready for summer planting. 5th graders in Mrs. Pedrett's class used the space to host a Garden Party for her retirement! What a great way to use this amazing community resource and honor her.
This week, we are continuing the celebrations! I look forward to seeing many more families and cherishing the last few days of the 25-26 school year. I can't believe we are at the end of the school year already!
Take care,
Katie

I wanted to send a HUGE thank you to the Homestead community for another successful Field Day! I truly could not do this without all of your help and support.
Thank you to my team for running the face paint station and being so accommodating throughout the day. Mrs. Forrestal and Ms. Schlatter — you are ROCKSTARS!
Thank you to Mrs. Lloyd and the office team for all of your support. Thank you to Mrs. Crosier for organizing snacks and helping with setup. A huge thank you as well to Liz and Stacy in the Hawks Nest for helping set up all of the water and tables, and to Micah and Isaac for helping set up the stations.
Thank you Mr. Dehaven for DJing the event, and Mr. Hoopes and Oliver for the special Mickey Awards.
A HUGE special shout-out to all of the parents who volunteered their time to run stations for the 5th graders and supervise stations for the rest of the school. Your help made the day run smoothly and created such a fun experience for our students.
Thank you to all of the teachers for your support and for having such positive attitudes throughout the entire process.
Thank you to our recess aides, lunchroom staff, and nutrition team for helping accommodate the day and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Your support was greatly appreciated!
And thank you to Sam and Mark Biren for the Step N' Repeat sign that added to the fun of field day!
Have a great summer, and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! ❤️ - MS. BROWNELL
Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who helped celebrate our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week! Here’s a little look at all we did to show our appreciation for the amazing staff at Homestead.
Thank You from First Grade
The First Grade Fundraiser to support animals was a huge success. Through our key chain and bake sales we raised $838. We were able to support the Wild Animal Sanctuary by adopting a Tiger named Nahla and a Bobcat named Marcus. Thank you to everyone who supported our civics in action.
Celebrate the Last Day of School!
Celebrate the end of the school year with Kona Ice! Join us on May 22 at the south pool from 12:30–1:30 PM. Everyone is welcome!
Scholastic Book Fair Success!!
Thank you for everyone for making the Scholastic Book Fair a big success last week! We reached our sales goal of over $10k and this will help buy new books for the library next year. Geniella will be placing orders for many fiction chapter books, updated sports teams books, nonfiction history books, birthday book program, and much more!
Attention: All Library Books Due ASAP
Please return all library books to the library as soon as possible so they can be checked in. This will help with organizing, ordering, and processing new books for next fall. Invoices will go out on Monday May, 18th for all overdue books. Thank you for all your help!

We are excited to share that we are expanding our use of MySchoolBucks to provide a more convenient way for families to handle school costs.
You likely already use this platform to add snack money to your student's lunch account. Beginning after spring break, you can use that same login to take care of other items, such as:
- Lost library book fees
- Club or Grade Level t-shirt sales
- Other school-related fees
What You Need to Do:
- Existing Users: Simply log in as usual. You will see these new options available in the "School Store" or "Invoices" section.
- New Users: If you don't have an account yet, please create a free account today. Having your login ready now will ensure a quick and easy checkout for upcoming sales.
Thank you for helping us consolidate our school payments into one easy-to-use location!

ATTENTION: All Volunteers at Homestead
Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.
If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. To access the form, click on the following link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NzU0OmVuLVVT or scan the QR code. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.
Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. Every person entering our buildings must have a badge printed from our Raptor system or a District ID.
We want to thank you in advance for your support of our schools and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Homestead main office at 720.554.3700.
