We are excited to provide the following celebrations of JES since our last meeting.

2026 JES Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. Terry Perkins, who has been selected as Jayhawk Elementary School’s 2026 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Perkins currently teaches first grade and has been a true pillar of support for our students, families, and the Mound City community for many years. Her dedication, commitment, and positive impact on generations of students make this recognition well deserved.

Parent-Teacher Conferences - THANK YOU FAMILIES

JES is happy to report another successful round of parent-teacher conferences. 258 of our 263 families participated in conferences to discuss student progress, representing an outstanding 98% family participation rate. We appreciate the continued partnership and commitment of our families in supporting student success.

Reading Benchmark Progress

As of November 6, 90% of our students have demonstrated progress from their Beginning-of-Year (BOY) reading benchmark assessments. We are encouraged by this early progress and appreciate the work of our teachers and support staff in providing meaningful instruction and targeted support. We will continue monitoring student growth and using assessment information to guide our instructional decisions.

DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Veterans Day Program Announcement - ONE DISTRICT CEREMONY

We are honored each year to celebrate our nation’s heroes during our Veterans Day Program. USD 346 will host one unified Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday, November 11th, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Jayhawk-Linn High School. Our goal with this ceremony is to provide a single, district-wide celebration that allows all veterans and community members to attend a special event honoring their service.

More specific details about the program and student participation will be shared as the date approaches. We are looking forward to this meaningful day of recognition and gratitude.
