Camelot Intermediate School
Welcome to 2026-2027
A Note from Dr. Camrin Vaux - Principal
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am extremely proud to be a member of the Brookings School District and be principal of Camelot Intermediate School. This school year marks my 20th year in education and fifth year as an elementary principal. I am so grateful that I get the privilege to serve the Camelot community in this leadership role. I look forward to working with all learners, teachers, and parents throughout the year to provide a high-quality education.
My goal for your child is that he or she grows academically, socially, and emotionally. I want every child in our building to love coming to Camelot as much as we love that they are here. As principal, my door is always open, and I value and seek your input to make this school year the best one yet!
Please feel free to contact me by phone at 696-4400, by email at Camrin.Vaux@k12.sd.us or by visiting with me at the Camelot Intermediate School office.

PBIS - Be a Bobcat
PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is a school district wide framework used to teach expectations and encourage positive behaviors.
When learners show those expectations, they earn a Bobcat Be (Dojo point). Dojo Points can be saved for our school store and earn things like tangible items, coupons/ certificates to restaurants, lunch with a staff member, and other fun experiences. Although incentives are motivating, we value partnership with families to ensure that TOGETHER we encourage our learners to be a Brookings Bobcat everywhere.
Watch Dojo and our Facebook page for celebrations and donation needs. Questions? Reach out anytime.
Message from PTA
Our PTA at Camelot works to support teachers, students, and families throughout the year. Here are a few things we do:
- Homecoming table where students can purchase Bobcat swag during the week of homecoming
- Books for Teacher’s classrooms
- Supper for teacher conference days
- Fun family activities throughout the year
- Offset cost for field trips
- Teacher Appreciation Week Treats
To continue to support Camelot like we do, WE NEED YOU. Our PTA is looking for volunteers to help us make these and other activities a success.
We look forward to another great year supporting Camelot. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions. Our email address is camelotbrookings@gmail.com, and you can follow us on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CamelotPTABrookings
Breakfast with Badges
Breakfast with Badges is a monthly gathering where the first responders of our community come in for the breakfast time on the second Tuesday of each month. Learners who are not eating school breakfast are welcome to come in to visit with the first responders.
Our goals are to create an engaging and impactful monthly event, “Breakfast with Badges,” that
fosters strong community connections, builds positive relationships between local first responders and learners from Camelot Intermediate,
promotes safety awareness among youth, fostering trust, and
inspiring the next generation of responsible and safety-conscious citizens.
New Family Resource: ParentGuidance.org
Camelot families now have free access to ParentGuidance.org, a national mental health and wellness resource created by the Cook Center for Human Connection. It's a Mental Health and Well-Being library for all families, providing any adult or caretaker with a trusted place to go for qualified answers to the toughest parenting challenges, with guidance from premier therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists in their respective specialties.
What families get access to:
- 50+ free online courses — available in English and Spanish, created and given by licensed clinicians on topics like anxiety, depression, self-harm, bullying, social media, substance abuse, and grief and loss.
- Free 1:1 parent coaching — after filling out a brief questionnaire, parents are paired with their own coach for a weekly 1:1 video call offering personal, supportive guidance on behavior strategies for challenges they're facing at home. Each parent is matched with a CBT-certified coach for a full year. Ccps
- Ask a Therapist — parents can review therapist video responses to frequently asked questions, or submit a question of their own. Ccps
- Monthly newsletter — ParentGuidance.org publishes its own monthly mental health newsletter with helpful tips and resources. Ccps
All of it is free and confidential, and it's designed to be a supportive first stop for families navigating everyday parenting challenges as well as more serious mental health concerns.
