Brief Message From the Principal

Dear Gonic Community,

Another dreary day. Hopefully the coming weeks will bring a bit warmer and sunnier weather! Anyhow, it has been a busy week with a lot of hard work and some mixed in fun. The highlight of the week for me (as well as first and second grades) was a great visit from Wildlife Encounters. The students learned a lot about the animals that visited and this goes along great with first grade's animal habitat unit and second grade's insect unit.

If you have not seen it, I did go on a bit of a rant in a Dojo message a few days ago. I very much stand by what I wrote and have linked it here in case you did not have a chance to read. It takes a village to educate a child and we have to support each other in this endeavor that gets more and more challenging each year. Here is the link to that Dojo story.

Grades three through five are continuing to focus on curriculum but also doing some preparation for the NHSAS testing that will take place in a few weeks. I appreciate all of the students and staff persevering through this and look forward to seeing the fruits of their labor later on in the spring.

Meat Bingo tonight!!!! See you there!!

Take care,

Greg

April is Stress Awareness Month.

Chronic stress can be detrimental to our overall health, it can even become toxic

for us. Stress can have the same effects on our child(ren). It’s easy to say

reduce and/or limit stress but it is difficult to do.

According to the Mayo Clinic these five tips can help to manage stress and

reduce the overall stress of day-to-day activities:

1. Use guided meditation.

2. Practice deep breathing.

3. Maintain physical exercise and good nutrition.

4. Manage social media time.

5. Connect with others.

https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/5-tips-to-manage-stress

Try some of these recommendations and try some with your child(ren).

It won’t take long to see benefits.
