Important Update: Second Breakfast Procedure for Grades 10-12 CTE (Shops)
As we prepare for the new year, we want to inform you of a procedural change regarding second breakfast that will begin immediately upon our return on January 5, 2025.
To streamline our daily schedule, we are updating how second breakfast is distributed for students in CTE Career Areas (Grades 10-12).
What is changing for Grades 10-12 CTE:
Students in these grades will no longer travel individually to the cafeteria for second breakfast.
Instead, second breakfast will be provided directly within the career areas.
By 8:00 a.m., teachers will submit second breakfast counts in the morning to the cafeteria via a google form. At 9:00 a.m., a designated student from the shop will retrieve the group order from the cafeteria to bring back to the shop.
What remains the same:
Grade 9 CTE Readiness: Students in Grade 9 CTE Readiness will continue with the current procedure. They will go to the cafeteria one at a time during the allocated time period.
Academic Classes: Students in academic classrooms will also continue with the current procedure of going one at a time.
We appreciate your cooperation as we make this transition to ensure a more efficient morning schedule for our upper-level CTE shops.
NEW STUDENT CHROMEBOOK BORROWING PROCEDURE
We are writing to inform you of updated procedures regarding Chromebook loans at the Help Desk. These changes are designed to minimize time out of class and ensure that school technology remains available and well-maintained for all students.
Please review the following steps and expectations effective immediately.
1. Borrowing a Chromebook
Students who need to borrow a Chromebook must report to the Help Desk with a SmartPass from their teacher. To receive a loaner device, students are required to leave their personal cell phone at the Help Desk. The phone serves as collateral and will be held securely until the Chromebook is returned.
2. Students Without Phones
If a student needs a loaner device but does not have a cell phone to exchange, the SAFE Office will be contacted. A staff member will verify that the student does not have a phone in their possession before a device is issued.
3. Return Time Restriction
Borrowed Chromebooks may only be returned to the Help Desk after 2:25 p.m. Students are expected to keep the loaner device and adhere to the school cell phone policy until the end of the school day.
4. Parental Notifications
Standard Notice: Parents and guardians will be notified via email each time their student borrows a Chromebook.
Frequent Borrowing: If a student borrows a device more than three times in a single week, parents will be contacted to confirm that the student’s originally assigned Chromebook has not been lost.
5. Financial Obligations and Lost Devices
Failure to Return: Students who fail to return a borrowed Chromebook by the end of the day will be referred to the SAFE Office. A $250 financial obligation will be placed on the student’s account until the device is returned.
Lost or Stolen Reports: If a student reports that their Chromebook has been lost or stolen, parents will be notified of the $250 financial obligation immediately.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring our students are prepared for learning every day.
