Free Breakfast and Lunch to All Students Continues for 2026-27
All students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, and all students will be automatically enrolled. The CEP helps eliminate the stigma associated with free and reduced-price meals while supporting a positive learning environment.
The no cost meals provided at breakfast and lunch include a hot or cold entree, side dishes such as hot/cold/fresh vegetables and fresh/canned fruits, 100% fruit juice and milk. Additional items, such as snacks and beverages are available for purchase.
Parents are encouraged to contact Nutrition Services Supervisor Tina Wasserbauer at twasserbauer@bereaschools.org or 216-267-2142 with questions regarding food allergies, special dietary needs, or other meal accommodations.
Cashless Cafeterias
If students wish to purchase snacks/beverages, parents must deposit money into their students’ accounts using Infinite Campus Food Service. You may also drop off checks (preferred) or cash at to the school office in an envelope clearly labeled "Lunch Money" with the student's first and last name and ID number. Please make checks payable to the school cafeteria.
Income Eligibility Verification Application
Families are asked and encouraged to complete the Income Eligibility Verification Application (must be printed and filled out) to access additional benefits, including increased state and federal funding for staff, equipment, and supplies; discounts on fees for academic assessments; and access to local scholarships, tuition assistance for dual credit and AP courses, and discounts on college application fees. By completing the application, you help the district continue to provide valuable resources and opportunities for every student.
BMHS and BMMS Students: Free Entry to Athletic Home Games!
All high school and middle school students in the Berea City School District will have the opportunity to attend their school athletic home games free of charge!
This exciting initiative has been extended, meaning that our students can cheer on their fellow Titans at no cost, making it easier than ever to support their friends and classmates. To gain free entry, students will need to register for their FREE ticket to EACH game they plan on attending. They can do this on the ticket website using their lunch code. More details to follow!
Here are the key details:
Free entry applies to regular season, home games only
High school students will be admitted free of charge to high school home events
Middle school students will be admitted free of charge to middle school home events.
The Student Sports Pass will still be available for $35 for students who attend games at a different building (e.g., any K-8 student who attends BMHS games), offering the savings of the Student Pass.
Sports play a crucial role in developing teamwork, school spirit, and a sense of community. By providing free access to our athletic events, we are encouraging our students to get involved and support their peers, fostering a stronger, more united school environment.
Students, mark your calendars! We can’t wait to see the stands filled with enthusiastic students, cheering on our Titans!

Annual Notice of General Monitoring
This notice is a requirement per Ohio Senate Bill 29 (“SB29”) that was passed by the Ohio General Assembly at the end of June 2024, was signed by Governor DeWine on July 24, 2024, and became effective on October 24, 2024. This legislation introduced new rules about how and when schools can access and monitor school-issued devices, and we want to ensure you are aware of these changes. Please be aware that the District, either directly or through a technology provider, is able to monitor all school-issued devices (as that term is defined by R.C. 3319.325). The monitoring can include the following features: student interactions with school-issued devices, including web activity and keystroke monitoring, and to prevent and respond to threats to life or safety. The District monitors these features for educational purposes of instruction, technical support, exam proctoring, and/or as required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
What Does Senate Bill 29 Say About Monitoring Student Devices?
Under SB 29, schools and technology providers have the ability to access school-issued devices (such as laptops or tablets) under specific circumstances to ensure student safety and the appropriate use of technology. However, the bill also requires that families are promptly informed when such access occurs.
Key Points to Know:
- Notification Requirement: If a school district or a technology provider accesses a student’s device, the school is required to notify the student or their parent/guardian within 72 hours. The notice must include:
A written description of the reason for accessing the device
Details about which features of the device were accessed (e.g., camera, microphone, browsing history)
A description of any potential threat that led to the access
Exception for Imminent Threats: In cases where immediate notification could pose a danger to the life or safety of students or staff, the school is allowed to delay the notification. In such cases, the school must notify the student or parent within 72 hours after the threat has passed.
Why Is This Important?
This policy aims to strike a balance between protecting students' safety and maintaining transparency about how school-issued devices are monitored. As schools continue to use technology to enhance learning, it's important to ensure both privacy and security are maintained. These monitoring provisions are designed to help safeguard students from potential online threats or misuse of school-provided technology while keeping you informed of any interventions.
What Can You Expect?
Should any school personnel or technology providers need to access your child’s device, you will receive a notification within 72 hours as required by SB 29. This notification will clearly explain:
Why the device was accessed
What action was taken
What safety concern, if any, prompted the access
We want to assure you that any monitoring or access to student devices will only occur in accordance with the law and to protect student well-being.
Our priority is always the safety and privacy of all students, and we will continue to follow these guidelines responsibly. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Securly for Parents
The Securly Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view online activity outside of the classroom, such as sites browsed, social media use and activity, and items searched. Parents can also set controls outside school hours. We encourage parents to download the Securly Home app. The app will help to safeguard your child’s online activity when devices come home and give you more control.

Annual Notice of Health Care Services Accessible to Students
Pursuant to Ohio Rev. Code 3313.473(B)(4), this document lists of all health care services available to our students through the School District and in connection with outside providers. As a parent, you may withhold consent or decline care on behalf of your child for any of the physical, mental, or behavioral health care services listed. Please note that withholding consent or declining access to services will not waive your right to access your child’s educational or health care records.
If you choose to opt out of any services, please print, complete, and return this form to your child’s school. A separate form must be completed for each child. Copies of this form are also available in the main office of each school.

The Berea Board of Education holds regular community conversations to give the public access to board members outside of the formal public participation setting of a meeting. Residents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss any concerns they may have with two board members during a 30 minute time-slot set aside prior to each regular scheduled Board of Education meeting. The goal of this effort is to more effectively connect with the public and learn more about the community.
