Principal's Message
Welcome to warmer weather and 10 more important days of learning in the 3rd nine weeks of school! As the school year continues, please remind students we continue on a journey that requires daily curiosity, hard work, and effort to reach our destination! Each child's destination is so important as he or she reaches to show competency in grade level reading, writing, and math skills. These life-long skills will build each student's self-esteem as he or she feels successful in learning about the world around them or completing daily real-life tasks.
Tutoring is offered every morning from 7:00 a.m. until 7:25 a.m. Tutoring is also offered after school. Please reach out to your child's teacher if he or she needs support.
We are 66% through the school year! So hard to believe. Every day matters for your student(s) to be in school practicing their learning and gaining more mastery of skills! Our attendance rate is at 93.50%. Our goal is 95%! Please help your student be successful by getting them here to school every day. It is also important students stay at school until the dismissal bell at 3:02. Instruction occurs through the end of the school day!
“Be present. Be powerful. Be a Jaguar.” 🐾
We are ready to prepare for the 2026-2027 school year! NOW is the time to register your student(s) for the next school year. Log into Home Access Center (HAC) to register. Please call the office at 254-336-1580 for assistance if needed.
Our Jaguar School Rules that support a positive, productive learning environment are:
- Be safe. (Use kind words and keep your hands to yourself.)
- Be responsible. (Be prepared for school with all materials and complete your work.)
- Be respectful. (Follow directions from all adults and be an active listener.)
Safety at Student Drop Off-
To ensure student safety upon arrival, do not drop students off in the parking lot as a "drive through" option. To drop students off in the parking lot, parents are required to park and walk students to the sidewwalk along the fence that leads to the crosswalk.
Traffic Flow and Campus Policy-
Parents are expected to turn right when exiting the parking lot in the morning drop off and afternoon. Turning left slows the traffic flow out of the parking lot during drop off and pick up time. Thank you for complying with campus policies to support effective traffic flow so all parents can drop off and pick up students efficiently.
Communication-
To support one consistent communication tool with easy access for all students, KISD will begin using the messaging application "Rooms" which is found in the KISD app. Rooms is designed to make it easier for families and teachers to stay connected and support student success. Rooms will provide a secure, convenient space for parents and guardians to communicate directly with teachers, view class updates and stay informed about their student’s progress — all in one place. Our teachers will begin using Rooms by the end of the month of February. Please stay tuned for further information about this district messaging tool.
Kite Day
We are excited to provide students an opportunity to celebrate spring with Kite Days. Students are asked to bring an unassembled kite to school. Parents may volunteer to help during kite day. Parents must have done their background check and completed volunteer orientation with Kimberly Smith. Please email kimberly.smith@killeenisd.org if you have questions about volunteering.

Pawsitive Behavior Incentives
When classes exhibit positive behaviors for whole school routines, showing respect, taking care of our school community's cleanliness or safety, they earn paw prints from staff members. A class that earns 10 paw prints gets a class reward and the golden paw print. We are excited to celebrate the classes below!

Character Trait of the Month-Courage
Courage-
Courage is the ability and strength to face something that may be difficult or challenging. Courage is not the absence of fear but rather perseverance in the presence of fear and the willingness to stand up for what is right or try something new, even though it may be uncomfortable or uncertain.
- Celebrate failures. Create opportunities to reduce fear of failure and celebrate when students try something new, even if they are not successful the first time.
Dismissal Procedures
Any changes in the child’s regular schedule should be IN WRITING through a note or email to the teacher. Remember - school ends at 3:02 PM and your child should be picked up promptly.
Adults parking to pick up students are required to present identification. Safety of our children is our first priority!
Car-riders
Car-riders will be picked up in front of the building in one of two lanes. Lane 1 (closest to building) and lane 2 (furthest from building) are both available to use; the middle lane is to be kept open for vehicle movement ONLY. Each family will receive a placard with a number on it; this number will be assigned to your child(ren) and staff will use it to pair your child(ren) with your vehicle.
Car numbers MUST be placed in the passenger window or visor for clear identification. This assists quick identification of the cars to place students into for staff members.
Vehicles WITHOUT placards will need to park and the driver will need to walk up to the front of the building to show ID and pick up the child(ren). Extra placards are available upon request.
**PK and Kindergarten children will be walked by their teachers to their dismissal location beginning at 2:50. 1st - 5th grade will be walked by staff to their dismissal locations when the bell rings at 3:02.
WALKERS-Important Information!!!
Students are escorted out of the school to the fence at Florence road by the carwash where a crosswalk is used for safe walking across the street for older students with siblings. Students are expected to walk off campus by 3:07 p.m.
Students that have not walked off campus by 3:07 p.m. will be escorted to the office by the teacher. Students must be picked up in the office by parents.
