Lexia world map tracking system

Dear Champion Cheetah Families,

All-In Tutoring Excellence! Cedar Point Elementary was recently highlighted in the most recent All-In Tutoring Newsletter for our accomplishments! We thank our All-In Tutoring Leaders Mrs. Lupton and Mrs. Yashinski, as well as our tutors, classroom teachers and families, for supporting the academic growth of students. I invite all to read their newsletter message below:

Spotlight: Cedar Point Elementary, Prince William County

This month, we celebrate the accomplishments of Cedar Point educators and students! Here, they share their testimonial and strategy to drive student motivation:

“At Cedar Point, students in the All-In tutoring program have demonstrated impressive growth and engagement through their consistent use of Lexia. By holding themselves accountable with weekly tickets, they are actively taking ownership of their learning journey. Progress is celebrated with fun incentives, and achievements are brought to life through a vibrant display featuring a world map and colorful balloons. This visual tracking system creates an exciting and motivating atmosphere —students eagerly check the hallway to see if their balloon has moved, signaling they've leveled up. This approach has significantly boosted student engagement. Learners are not only excited to reach their goals but also take pride in seeing their accomplishments represented in such a meaningful and visible way.” Congratulations to the Cedar Point community!

Mrs. Crawford and I wish you all a healthy, fun and safe summer break!

Warm Regards,

Aerica A. Williams, M.Ed., Principal

PWCS Cell Phone-Free Education Policy PWCS Cell Phone-Free Education Policy

Stop the Scroll, Take Control

This year, Prince William County Public Schools took a bold and research-based step forward by adopting the new Cell Phone-Free Education Policy.

Beginning in August 2025, all schools will implement a bell-to-bell policy that limits cell phone use during the instructional day. This decision, shaped by community input and a successful pilot across 33 schools, is rooted in a shared goal: creating classroom environments where students are full present - mentally, emotionally, and socially. The student-created slogan, "Stop the scroll, take control," reminds us that this policy is about empowerment, not restriction. It is about reclaiming focus, restoring meaningful human connection, and giving our students every opportunity to thrive.

For more information, we invite you to review the PWCS FAQ page. We are grateful for your engagement and look forward to continuing this important work together.

Strings Students Celebrate Final Performance of the Year Strings Students Celebrate Final Performance of the Year

On May 29, our 5th grade Strings students held their final concert of the school year. Families and staff enjoyed a fun musical performance by our students, as they showcased all of their talent and hard work from the year.

We also celebrated our Strings teacher, Mr. Sam Runolfson, and his 11 years of service to elementary music education. We want to wish Mr. Runolfson all the best as he is moving on to teach Strings at Marsteller Middle School next year. His dedication and enthusiasm for teaching and encouraging a love of music with our 5th grade students will be greatly missed.

Check out the Cedar Point Facebook page for more photos.

Students Perform In-School Recorder Mini Concerts Students Perform In-School Recorder Mini Concerts

During end-of-year 3rd, 4th and 5th grade music classes with Mrs. Ro, students have had the opportunity to show off all they've learned on the recorder throughout the school year by performing mini concerts for our younger classes and staff members! Students should be so proud of their progress this year, whether they were learning an instrument for the first time, or are seasoned recorder-players, practicing new musical rhythms and reading music!
