Open Parachute is a district mental wellness program being used in many classrooms. A wonderful addition to the program is that it has a parent portal that you can access anytime if you are struggling at home with specific issues. It gives families an opportunity to open up the conversation about mental health, at home, so that students know it is a safe place to share how they are feeling, provide them with useful tools, and provide an opportunity to connect with you.

I will be including a weekly link for families to take a look at, but please know that you can access any of the modules that you want. The topics I send will either align with our virtue, behaviour of the month, or issues that are coming up at school.

Cell Phone Reminder

Please discuss with your children the importance of putting their phone away once they are at school. We have been struggling with managing several groups of students who have their phone out in the morning when they arrive. When asked to put their phones away, they go off of school property which is a safety concern. We strive to have a safe environment at Ladysmith Intermediate and really appreciate your support with this.

E-bike & e-scooter Safety Reminder!

Please remember that these vehicles are not permitted on school property! If they arrive at school, you will be called to pick it up immediately. We appreciate your cooperation.

Verification Forms & E-consents

Please return your child's verification form a.s.a.p. so that we have the most up-to-date information on hand. Make any changes necessary on the page, do all the checkmarks on the back, and sign the back. Once completed, please return them to the school as soon as possible. These forms hold critical information for safe day-to-day operations, so the sooner we have them back, the better.

Also, watch for and complete the email consent forms for the following things:

1. Media Consent

2. Technology Consent

3. Emergency Release Form

Please complete these as soon as possible so that we have your consent on record and your child's learning is not interrupted in any way 🙂

Terry Fox Run - September 25th, 2026

Students will be partaking in the annual Terry Fox run this year on Friday, September 25th, 2026. We will have an assembly as a whole school and then classes will complete a block run throughout the day. We will be collecting "Toonies for Terry" to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. Students can bring as many toonies as they like to donate between now and September 25th. Even if everyone donates one toonie, that gets us 2/3 of the way to our goal of $1000!! We can do this LIS Community!
