Our staff do finish their workday at 4:15pm, so timely pick-up is appreciated.

Meet Galveston

You may notice a four-legged friend around school! Galveston is currently in training to become a seeing-eye dog. You’ll see him around school with Ms. Martine by his side as he learns and practices important skills. It's fine to look but please don't pet him, even if he comes up to you. Part of what he's learning is to not be distracted by new friends. We’re excited to cheer him on during his training journey! 🐾

Tip of the week:

Dance Your Way Into Learning! 💃🕺

Before asking your child to sit down and learn, try getting their body moving first!

Try it at home: Put on a favorite, upbeat song and have a follow-the-leader dance party. You can lead the movements and have your child copy you, or let your child be the leader while you follow along. Add simple movements like clapping, stomping, spinning, jumping, or freezing when the music stops.

Why it works: Movement gives the brain and nervous system important sensory and motor input while also engaging attention, coordination, and self-control. Research shows that physical activity can support children's executive functions, the skills we use to focus, remember instructions, control impulses, and shift our attention. Short bouts of movement may also provide a boost in attention and inhibitory control, while regular physical activity is associated with benefits to children's cognitive and brain health.
