Red Hill Lutheran School
August 2026-2027
🦅 Welcome Back Eagles! 🦅
A Message from Leadership
We are humbled, grateful, and excited to serve the Red Hill Lutheran School community this year as co-principals and middle school teachers. For each of us, Red Hill Lutheran has been much more than just a school for our children or a place to work. It is the community where we have raised our families, where our daughters have grown into curious learners and compassionate leaders, and where we have grown in our faith, our calling, and our love for Christian education.
For more than a decade, Red Hill Lutheran has held a special place in our hearts, and we could not be more excited to begin this new chapter together.
In this, our 65th anniversary year, we stand on the foundation of God's faithfulness as we look forward to a year marked by growth, learning, and joyful service together. We eagerly anticipate all that God has in store for our students, families, faculty, and staff in the year ahead.
Celebrating 65 Years - Soaring Together!
1961 - Red Hill Lutheran School Opens its Doors
The story of Red Hill Lutheran School begins with the church that gave it life. Red Hill Lutheran Church was established in 1957, and from its earliest days, the congregation held a deep belief in the importance of Christian education for their children. That conviction became a reality in 1961, when — with the help of parents committed to faith-based learning — Red Hill Lutheran School officially opened its doors.
The school's first class was modest but meaningful: 14 kindergarten students, gathered together under the vision that education and Scripture should go hand in hand. Leading them was Pastor Showalter, the church's own pastor, who also served as the school's first principal. He held that dual role with dedication until 1966, laying the spiritual and academic foundation upon which everything would be built.
Construction of the school's first dedicated facilities began before the first students arrived. Ground was broken for a six-room educational building on May 8, 1960, and that building was dedicated on November 13, 1960 — a testimony to the community's eagerness to put faith into action.
2026 - Built on God's Promises: Celebrating 65 Years, Soaring Together
Red Hill Lutheran School is an outreach ministry of Red Hill Lutheran Church, welcoming students and families from a wide range of Christian denominations and backgrounds. Every lesson is taught through California-approved, standards-based curriculum aligned with California State and Common Core Standards — and every subject is woven together with biblical truth and a Christ-centered perspective.
Our students are equipped to SOAR — to be Spiritually guided, Outstanding scholars, Actively engaged, and Responsible leaders. With small class sizes, a multi-sensory approach to learning, and a faculty that views teaching as ministry, RHLS prepares students not just for the next grade level, but for a life of purpose and impact.
From 14 students in a newly dedicated classroom to a nationally recognized school of nearly 500 — the history of Red Hill Lutheran School is, above all, a story of what God can do through a community that stays faithful to its calling.
Our history is still being written. We invite you to be part of the next chapter.

Each year, Sumner Photography visits Red Hill Lutheran School to capture many of the milestones that make each school year special. Our official school picture day is August 25, 2026 from 8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. (Preschool 9:15 A.M. - 10:30). Each Class visits for about 15 minutes and we welcome Parent volunteers to help us facilitate this special day.
How to Dress
Kindergarten – 8th Grade
Students should wear their standard school uniform, including: Red, white, or navy RHLS polo with approved school uniform bottoms. Only the upper portion of each student is photographed, so shoes and bottoms will not appear in the final image.
ASB Students
Students serving in ASB may wear their black ASB polo for their official school portrait.
Preschool
Preschool students may wear an outfit of the family's choosing. Since only the upper portion of the child is photographed, bottoms and shoes will not appear in the picture. Preschool families whose child is not scheduled to attend school that day are welcome to bring their child to campus during the designated photography hours to have their portrait taken.
Ordering Pictures
A few weeks after Picture Day, Sumner Photography will send home ordering information with students. Families may purchase portraits directly through the order form provided by the photographer.
Congratulations 2026-2027 ASB
It takes courage, confidence, and a servant’s heart to put yourself out there in order to serve your school community, and each of our new ASB members truly exemplified what it means to be a Christ-like leader.
Throughout this process, our new ASB students demonstrated courage and Taking Responsible Risks. Running for ASB is not easy, and we are incredibly proud of every single one of them for stepping up and giving it their all. They truly represent the very best that Red Hill Lutheran has to offer.
Thank you all again for your courage, effort, and willingness to serve, we are so proud of each of you and can't wait for a great new school year ahead!

Red Hill Lutheran Church News
A Message From Pastor Seth
Dear Red Hill Lutheran School Families,
Welcome to the new school year! If you are new to Red Hill, my name is Pastor Seth Britton and I am the Senior Pastor at Red Hill Lutheran Church and School. It is my privilege to work alongside an incredible faculty and staff who are committed to providing a quality academic and Christian education for your child.
Red Hill Lutheran School is an outreach ministry of Red Hill Lutheran Church. What does this mean? Simply, we believe our church and school exist to help, support, and equip you and your children to live faithfully and joyfully as followers of Jesus Christ! As a parent, you are the primary spiritual influence in your child’s life. However, you are not alone in nurturing your child’s faith. In addition to the academic excellence we strive for, our church and school exist to help you grow as a family in Christian faith, hope, and love. You will hear me say often that at Red Hill Lutheran Church and School, we consider it both a sacred responsibility and a divine privilege to be used by God in assisting you to train your “child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6).
If I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting you, I look forward to doing so soon! If you do not have a church home, I invite you to worship with us and become a part of our church family. We offer two worship services on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. (Classical) and 10:15 a.m. (Contemporary).
Also on Sunday mornings, we offer “DiscipleU”, Bible studies, classes, and groups for all ages. “DiscipleU” meets from 9:15 to 10:00 a.m.
If you are unable to join us in person, we livestream and record our worship services as well. For the livestream, just go to our website www.redhillchurch.org and scroll down to Worship Livestream. We also offer youth and family programs for Middle School and High School students during the week. Again, check our website for times and options for you and your child to participate!
On Sunday, September 13th, we “officially” kick off our new ministry year! At the 10:15 a.m. worship service, we will bless and install our church and school staff and leaders. All morning long, we will host a ministry fair to give you a glimpse of our various ministries and ways to get involved in the life of our church!
In these very challenging times, the need for faithful, Christian education has never been more important! The values and virtues upon which this country was founded, and in many cases, the Biblical foundations of those values and virtues must be taught, reinforced, and honored.
As a church and school, we will stand upon the truth of God’s Word and His desire that all people find real and lasting hope and peace in Him! If you need prayer, support, or have any questions about the church or the Christian faith, please do not hesitate to contact me personally!
We are thankful for you and your family! As a church and school, we look forward to another great year of learning, laughing, and loving!
May God bless and guide you always!
Gratefully in Christ,
Pastor Seth Britton

Youth and Family Ministry
At Red Hill, our Youth and Family Ministry (YFM) is dedicated to supporting families through every stage of life. With a personalized, age-appropriate approach, we partner with parents, trained leaders, and caring staff to nurture a deep, lasting faith in children—from birth to adulthood.
We offer weekly programs, social events, and classes on key Sacraments including Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation. Our goal is to help families grow in faith, experience God’s love, and join us in our mission: to know Christ and make Him known.
