École Maple ES Family Update

January 20-24

École Maple ESFamily UpdateJanuary 20-24

Hello Ecole Maple Families,

Welcome back everyone!

We had another wonderful week here at Maple! We will continue on with intramurals, handwork club, and games club this week, as well as beginning practices for our upcoming School Production. Please see the week at a glance below for more details!

Just a reminder from KFL&A that students who are fevered are required to stay home for 24 hours after the fever has subsided, and any gastro issues require a 48 hour window of being symptom free before returning to school. It can be difficult to juggle, but let's do our best to keep the entire Maple community as healthy as possible! We truly appreciate your diligence and understanding!

Also, we have just circulated around classrooms to have discussions about appropriate behavior and yard expectations. Please encourage your student(s) to play safe and inclusive games that avoid hands-on play to prevent slips and falls, as well as accidents that can lead to larger issues.

Due to the Inclement Weather day last Thursday, we have rescheduled Picture retake day to FRIDAY, JANUARY 24th!

We are also extremely fortunate to have special guests joining both Mme Oleschuk and Mme Desmarais class to share in some Indigenous Teachings!

Let's have another amazing week Majors!

Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Maple Elementary School community,

I am including a brief note to introduce myself, however I do hope to connect with many of you in person over the next while.

My name is Cathy Carson and I have recently retired after 32 wonderful years with the Limestone District School Board. My last school was École Polson Park, where I was the Administrator for 6 years.

I am very excited to be working with and for the Maple community until Ms. Thompson is able to return to work. Your school staff are incredibly hard workers and together with their professionalism and the teamwork between home and school, we will continue to work on enhancing the learning environment and school spirit over these winter months. Academic achievement is related to a well-rounded school environment.

Please feel free to connect with me in person or by phone.

Sincerely,

Mrs. C. Carson

Prepare for Winter-Related Bus Delays & Cancelations - Tri-Board

During the winter (roughly late October to early April), Tri-Board works closely with our school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school bus transportation on inclement weather days. School buses function differently than other vehicles and sometimes, although it is safe for the average family vehicle to travel, it is not safe for a school bus to be on the road.

SchoolMessenger App

Why Use the SchoolMessenger App?

When you join SchoolMessenger, you will be able to:

  • receive imporant information from LDSB
  • join classrooms and extra-curricular groups
  • report a student's absence (same day and in advance)

Reporting A Student's Absence:

The new student absence reporting system will let you use a mobile app, a website, or an interactive toll-free phone number to report an absence in advance. These options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.

If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our new SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, school office staff will follow up.
