Hoyne Happenings
Hello Families,
I am in awe of the amazing support and generosity of our families! Not only was it amazing to see so many of you supporting our students at the Fun Run, but also your financial support. So far we have raised over $20,000. This is incredible and helps provide amazing opportunities for our students including field trip buses, resources for classrooms, staff appreciation, building improvements and so much more! We had an amazing day on Friday at the Fun Run and couldn't have done it without the amazing Fun Run committee and all of the parents who volunteered. Thank you!
This weekend I was able to cheer on some of our 5th graders who participated in the 5th Grade Run at Beverly Park. They did an awesome job representing Pembroke! This week we start with picture day and will end our week with our first PRIDE Packs on Friday morning. We are looking forward to another great week!
As many of you know, some of our classrooms are piloting our new literacy curriculum. These teachers will be sharing more information with families on each module and the books the curriculum will be using. For any parent or guardian who is interested these documents can all be found on our district website at: https://www.birmingham.k12.mi.us/academics-experiences/curriculum-assessment/k-8-elaliteracy-pilot
Have a great week!

COUNT DAY! Wednesday, October 2nd
Count Day is coming up on October 2nd! What is Count Day? It's when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. This count information is critical to districts, because each student translates into state funding. State and local aid is based on the number of students legally enrolled. Please ensure your child is at school and on time - on Count Day - and every day!
Pink for a Purpose - Wednesday, October 2nd (after school)
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are sponsoring a fundraiser for Karmanos Cancer Institute on Wednesday, October 2nd. Beginning at 3:50pm in the art room, parents/guardians can bring your child in to get a pink hair extension. The process only takes a few minutes - once the extension is done, your student is free to leave.
We're asking for a pre-pay donation of $10. If you come the day of the event - we're asking for a $15 donation at the door.
Forms were sent home last week but can also be found below.
