Stowe's Sticky Notes Stowe's Sticky Notes

I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Fall Break! My family got to spend some time together in the most magical place on earth and I even ran into a few longhorn families while we were there!

This week we kickoff our Fun Run PTA Fundraiser on Wednesday! (Full fundraiser week is next week) You can get started by pre-registering your kiddos at mybooster.com. Our PTA has once again done an amazing job of planning each and every detail of our run- a Spooky Stampede! And they have selected prizes that our students will love to fundraise for. If you are new to LSE, this is the ONE BIG fundraiser that we have each and every year. Funds raised from this fun run, help pay for all sorts of student activities like the Leader in Me program, guest speakers and performances, contributions to each and every field trip, campus beautification, etc. This year one of our big projects is working to add padded mats to the walls of our cinderblock walled gym to increase safety and comfortability for students in PE.

Next week is also Red Ribbon Week and you can check out all of the dress-up days below. Next Tuesday is also our Open House from 5-6:30pm. This is a come and go event and we are NOT breaking things down by alphabet this year. If you would like to avoid the crowds, coming a little later in the evening is recommended. You'll be able to view some of your students' work and see some of their amazing progress towards their goals.

I am seeing an increase in strep throat and pink eye amongst several grade levels. If your child is diagnosed with either, they need to be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.

Stay Well!

Dismissal Notes Dismissal Notes

Dismissal Notes & START and END Times

School begins each day promptly at 8:15am. The car rider line will close at this time.

If you arrive after 8:15am, you will need to park in the parking lot and escort your children inside for a tardy pass. Students may not be dropped off.

Transportation changes can be made through PikMyKid up until 2pm each day.

The last time to check out a student early is 3:00pm. If you have an emergency, please contact the front office.

School ends each day 3:40pm and dismissal begins at that time. Please keep these times and the time it takes to dismiss all students in mind as you register students for extra-curricular activities.

At dismissal, if you need to buckle a child into a seat for car rider, after your child is safely in the car, please pull forward into a visitor parking spot so that you can safely buckle in your child and keep our line moving.

Bus Transportation & SMART TAGS

Last year MISD Transportation rolled out a new tracking system for bus riders called SMART TAG. The students tap their badge when they enter and exit the school bus. Due to this feature we no longer dismiss bus-riders via PikMyKid. WE WILL use PikMyKid to make any dismissal changes, such as from bus rider to car rider for an appointment. So please make sure you have that app downloaded as well.

You should be able to access your child's bus route information through Skyward Family Access and through the SMART Tag parent app on your phone or online portal. If you have questions about bus transportation you can reach out to our transportation department at 936-276-2300.

Please know that depending on when we receive the new Bus tags for this year, SMART TAGS not be ready to implement on the first day of school. However, transportation should be able to manually tap students on and off via their tablets.

Car Rider and PikMyKid

Lone Star Elementary uses the PikMyKid program to track a student's primary method of transportation, to allow parents to change transportation methods, as a dispatch system for all students, and as an announcement feature for car-riders. It is important for all families to have this app downloaded with your students' linked.

PikMyKid is especially important for Car Riders as the parent will announce their arrival on the app once you've reached the designated area of the car rider line (If you don't know where that is, don't worry there's a big sign.) This will tell your child and their teacher that they can head to the loading area inside the school for dismissal. Anyone who picks your child up from school (grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) should have the PikMyKid app downloaded and ready to go for pick-up. If someone is unable to use the app or does not have the required pick-up tag, they will have to park and check out the student from the office. This also slows down the car rider line so please have everyone prepared when it's their turn to pick up your child.

Please download the PikMyKid App from the Apple App store or the Google Play store and try to create an account from the phone # you have provided to us. If you are having any trouble creating an account, we can help you. Instead of sending an email, please complete this form as a ticket system so that we can quickly track who has been helped and who still needs assistance. Newly registered students/parents may not immediately be entered into PikMyKid due to the Skyward update times. The information for new families has been sent to PikMyKid for upload into the system. If you don't get an email from PikMyKid by Meet the Teacher, please don't worry; complete the form and we can manually add you to the PikMyKid system.

Click Here for the troubleshooting form so we can work on your concerns. PikMyKid will ONLY work on the phone numbers you have provided as part of your registration as a specific safety precaution, if you need to update those phone numbers you will need to complete it in Skyward Family Access in addition to completing the troubleshooting form.

Montgomery ISD is exploring the interest level in an At-Home Learning Option to determine whether the District should pursue this opportunity for students and families.

We want your input. The survey will help us understand the level of interest and what would be most important to families, from academics and scheduling to athletics, extracurricular activities, and hands-on learning opportunities.

The survey is open to MISD families and community members, including those who live outside the MISD attendance boundaries.

Take the survey here: https://tejoin.com/participate/642654839

MISD Parental Rights Notification

As required by Texas law, Montgomery ISD provides parents with information about parental rights and educational options at the beginning of each school year. For more information, please visit the district’s website and review the Parental Rights Handbook.
