PTA/PTSA Excellence Program (PEP)

Happy Fall! While the leaves are turning different colors, the weather is doing interesting things, and the clocks will be changing soon, PEP points are growing! By now, you should have made sure all of your board members are uploaded into MemberHub and are paid members of your PTA/PTSA, uploaded all of your chairpersons into the system, emailed your signed Bylaws Acknowledgement form and Financial Best Practices form to PEP, paid your unit's Flat Rate Membership Fee to Livonia PTSA Council, and emailed a copy of your Policies and Procedures to PEP. The next thing to do is make sure all of your Standards of Affiliation documents are properly uploaded into MemberHub.

Is your PTA/PTSA unit looking to earn even more PEP points? It's easy to do! Simply be sure to CC PEP when you're inviting your Council liaison to your meetings every month and when you're submitting a newsletter article. Is your unit participating in Livonia PTSA Council's Chili Cook Off? Are you attending Founders' Day in February? Each member earns PEP points for attending each event! Has your unit achieved last year's membership totals? That's worth 250 PEP points! Has your unit exceeded last year's membership numbers? That's worth an additional 100 points for every 25 additional members! Did anyone from your PTA/PTSA unit attend a Livonia PTSA Council meeting? Will your unit have anyone complete a Youth Making A Difference project? These are all ways to earn more PEP points. Be sure to review the PEP checklist for more ways to earn even more points.

Want to know where your PTA/PTSA unit currently stands in the rankings with other units? Simply visit Livonia PTSA Council's website for more information at https://livoniaptsacouncil.org/work/pep/ for a breakdown of what you have received credit for. Please note the date of the PEP standings.

Be sure to submit those PEP items to PEP@livoniaptsacouncil.org on time to receive the maximum amount of PEP points for your PTA/PTSA unit.

Have fun and happy PEP-ing!

Cleveland Elementary

Cleveland’s PTA has been busy with our scholastic book fair that was held for a week in October. We were open during conferences which helped increased our sales. The kids always love picking out new books to bring home! We pushed the e-wallet for a smooth shopping experience during class time.

The PTA board members supplied a taco bar for teachers and staff during conferences!

The students had a chance to enjoy a skate night at Riverside Arena in Livonia! This is always a fun night out and we have the dates picked out early in the school year to secure the dates.

We had a Livonia Fire Station come visit with our top two students who raised the most funds for our Color Run. They had a blast with the one-on-one time with the firefighters!

We held our annual Fall Fest at the end of the month! We had awesome weather and a great turnout! Students and their families joined us for trunk or treat, a spooky hallway, music and dancing in the gym, cider and donuts, a sensory area and a petting zoo! We'd like to give a shout out to all of our parent and staff volunteers who made this event possible! Leading up to the event, we had a cute candy monster collecting candy for our trunk or treat!

Hoover Elementary

We wrapped up September with our wildly successful Color Run! We met, and surpassed, our goal. The kids, parents, staff (especially our principal, Mr. D!), and spectators had a blast!

Hoover kicked off October with our first skate night of the year! This event is well loved by our Rockets, and we had a great turnout!

We’re just beginning our Penny Wars Week, and the battle begins between U of M and Michigan State. U of M was our winner last year … will they win again?! Time will soon tell. We’ll end this week with a spirit day, where the students and staff can wear their MSU or U of M gear! May the best team win!

The end of October brought our Hoot ‘n Howl … Hoover’s annual Halloween Party! Stay tuned for pictures!

Kennedy Elementary

Our PTA worked hard to make October a special and “spooktacular” month at Kennedy.

We kicked off the month with a fun field trip to Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill for our 1st graders. They had fun picking apples, pumpkins, going on a wagon ride, seeing the animals, getting a lesson in pollination, and of course enjoying donuts and cider.

October is also the month that our PTA puts together our much anticipated positive notes campaign. Parent volunteers came together to create the notes and spread them around the school on each student’s locker. We even had some little volunteers, too.

Our annual Fall Fest was a blast thanks to our PTA’s hard work. The rain didn’t stop us and even with the event moved inside there were multiple food trucks, DJ Marihugh, hallways filled with trick-or-treating stations put together by our wonderful parent volunteers, candy, and of course costumes.

The PTA also started up mileage club this month as well as everyone’s favorite pumpkin decorating contest. Many students participate in each activity and both are a great way to bring the Kennedy community together.

The end of October included a PTA dine out to Buddy’s, the 4th grade field trip to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, and our first skate night of the year at Riverside.

It’s been a fun and busy October over at Kennedy.

Randolph Elementary

With school in full swing here at Randolph, we ended the month of September with a successful color run! Every Randolph student had a blast and each got covered with tons of colors! We had great parent participation and we appreciate each parent who comes and gives their time! We PASSED our school goal of $18K! Woo hoo!! In October, we hosted another great PTA meeting at the beginning of the month. We continue to see new parent faces, which is fantastic! We had a school PTA membership drive and a chance for the teachers to earn a $100 gift card for their class. Our class winner had 117% class participation. Amazing! We are thankful to everyone who participated in our Membership Drive this year! We exceeded our goal of 200 members for the 2023-2024 school year and are currently sitting at 207 PTA members - the most members Randolph's PTA has had since 2018! We appreciate all the support, and we are so lucky to be part of such an awesome community of students, staff, and family members! To show our appreciation to our Randolph teachers and staff, for parent teacher conferences, the PTA made sure our teachers had a great lunch to enjoy. Ending the month, we had our school Trunk-or-Treat and "Dine to Donate" fundraiser at Red Robin! Trunk-or-Treat was a great event and all the kids enjoyed cider, doughnuts and some dancing. We had so many fun, decorated trunks and all the kids looked great in their costumes!

Riley Upper Elementary

During the fall parent teacher conferences, the PTA purchased dinner for the staff. The staff was served a wide variety of Mediterranean favorites from Alloush Grill.

In October, our PTA Board was working hard to promote our Monster Mash Dash which was held on Halloween Day. The Dash is a fun run where the students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Webster Elementary

We had an exciting October here at Webster. The PTA 's fundraiser "Race to Raise" was a huge success. We raised 30% more than budgeted and celebrated with a big party on the playground. We had the Kona Ice truck, dancing, soccer, chalk, games, and the Franklin Marching Band. It was a lot of fun! With most of the prizes for our raffle donated, expenses were kept to a minimum. A big thank you to Kelly Leciejewski for chairing that event!

During conferences, the PTA likes to pamper the staff by purchasing dinner for them one evening. This year it was from Jet's pizza.

With Fall Fest just around the corner, our month isn't over yet!
