March Student Spotlight Recipient
Evan Tucker was selected for Student Spotlight for the month of March. Because of his standout performance in the classroom and at job shadowing placements, Evan was nominated and chosen for special recognition by his teachers. He was recognized and awarded a Student Spotlight certificate, had a brag letter sent home, and was treated to lunch of his choosing from a local restaurant. We hope you will share in congratulating Evan for his award!
Our Student Spotlight program is designed to acknowledge students who demonstrate successful behaviors at school. Students who attend school regularly, work to achieve goals, exhibit positive behavior, participate in activities, and show good citizenship make our school a pleasant place to be. We love giving students a chance to be recognized, at school and at home, for the good things they are doing. We also like showcasing examples of success for students who are still improving.
Students Maintain Pace During Inclement Weather
The beginning of 2025 brought wintry weather to our district. During the months of January (after break) and February, we were out of school for one 1-hour delay, five traditional snow days, and six NTI days due to inclement weather.
Our district participates in Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days when we are unable to be at school due to health or safety concerns. Students are able to access their instruction using their Chromebooks. Teachers and Tech Support work on NTI days and are available to students and families just like they are on any other instructional days.
Due to the excellent participation of Academy students on NTI days, and willingness to make up work if any was missed, our students' participation was 100%! Therefore, our students stayed on track during the inclement weather. Way to go, RAAA!

Service Projects
π On February 21st, RAAA students contributed to their community by participating in "Hats for Hospice." Students had a fun day of wearing hats in the classroom by donating $1. All proceeds went to the Hospice organization which provides comfort and support to terminally ill patients and their families in our community. Rockcastle County Schools collectively raised $469.10 for Hospice with "Hats for Hospice."
π In March, Rockcastle Academy partnered with RCMS & RCHS FCCLA in their pop tab collection for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. The pop tabs will be recycled for funds to be used to support families of children receiving medical care. For more information on the Ronald McDonald House Charity, visit https://www.rmhc.org

Shout-Outs!
Shout-out to students for giving back!
Following their own Club Day on the 27th, Larry Bowers and Christopher Melendez volunteered at Roundstone Elementary School's Club Day on March 28th. Larry helped with the 3rd-5th grade Art Club and Chris helped with the 3rd-5th grade Football Club. Both were able to volunteer in a club that suited their interests and both were happy to have the opportunity to spend part of their day doing something positive for others.
Shout-out to Chris for perfect attendance!
Christopher Melendez was present every day in the month of March. We appreciate Chris for his commitment to school attendance. He has been present every day since his enrollment at RAAA.
