Spring info
This time of year is always very busy in a school. Students are completing the iReady assessment. Those results and data will help our teachers to guide instruction for the remainder of the year, focusing on areas where students have gaps in their learning. Your child's iReady report will be coming home as soon as the testing window closes, so be on the lookout for that information.
At the same time, every school in the state is preparing for the spring assessment, KSA (Kentucky Summative Assessment). If your child is in 3rd-5th grade, you will soon see information coming home to prepare your child for testing in mid-May.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for end-of-year activities and ceremonies. Next week's newsletter will contain all of those year-end dates so you can mark them on your calendar.
Time to Register
We need you to register for next school year! Every student must be registered even if they are a returning student. If you have not yet completed registration you can do so at the link below. Please remember to check over your address, phone number, etc. and update if needed. If you need assistance, please call our front office.
Cards vs Cats - Fundraising for Special Olympics
BCPS is raising money to support Special Olympics. Special Olympics is a global sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and athletic competition in various sports. It's a movement that promotes inclusion, acceptance, and understanding by giving individuals with intellectual disabilities opportunities to participate in sports and experience the joy of competition.
When?
Between April 28th and May 21st, each school will collect money for Special Olympics through a Cats vs Cards money war.
How?
Students can use their money to vote for UL or UK. We will have collection buckets in the lobby of the school to collect money each morning.
Goal:
At the end of the fundraiser, money will be counted. During the last week of school, the principal of each school will wear the colors of the team with the most support (money) raised at their individual school. Will Mr. Mullins be wearing red or blue all week? Your donations decide!
When the money for all schools is collected and counted, Dr. Bacon (our superintendent) will wear the winning team's colors during the last week of school.
I.D. Reminder
We hate having to turn family away from awards ceremonies and other family events during the school day, but student safety is our first priority.
Lost and Found
The lost and found listing at the link below has been updated! With the nicer weather lately, we are having more items left on the playground and in the halls.
Our lost and found is busting at the seams! Check out this google form where you can view the current items and let us know if any belong to your child so we can reunite them. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfU1boiNfefUf5Eg6XsJXDnYEs-3rQ1PmRTMF6mrJaFmZzMrQ/viewform?usp=preview
