Superintendent Update
September 13, 2024
Cliff's Notes
Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,
I am pleased to share a draft of the 2024-2027 BPS Strategic Plan for Public Comment - September 10, 2024 for public comment and feedback. This can be done via Strategic Planning Survey #3 - Fall 2024. Feedback meetings with community groups are also welcome (just reach out to via Contact Superintendent's Office to schedule a time). In addition, we are soliciting interested community members who may want to volunteer to serve on two working groups via School Start Times Working Group Interest Survey and Middle School Math Working Group Interest Survey. I look forward to moving forward this important work together.
Best,
Cliff Chuang 莊 宏 毅

Bedford Receives $500K for World Languages
The Bedford Public Schools was awarded a five-year $500,000 grant from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) dedicated to the World Language Advancement and Readiness Program (WLARP). We will be exploring piloting one or more new world languages to offer at BHS by the 2025-26 academic year and creating a Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Lab so that students will be able to continue learning the language they studied at Bedford High School after they transfer out or continue learning a language not offered at BHS after they transfer into the school. Stay tuned for more details! For more information, see this SC Memo - World Languages or Federal Grant Will Expand BHS World Language Options - The Bedford Citizen.
Bedford Dollars for Scholars has been awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors since 1965. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary this year, our Bedford Day booth on Saturday September 21 will feature notecards and pens for students in grades K-12 (as well as for anyone who has graduated from Bedford High School), to write a thank you note to any teacher or staff member in the Bedford Schools. After Bedford Day, we will deliver the notes to each of the schools. Please plan to join us on Bedford Day to thank your teachers! For more information, visit www.bedfordma.dollarsforscholars.org to learn about our scholarships, and how you can help continue this important legacy, or reach out to
Shirley Kring, President, CSF of Bedford Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 585, Bedford, MA 01730 or bedfordma@dollarsforscholars.org.
