Think Fast Interactive Teen Driver Safety Program

On May 15th, we will be visited by the MA State Police. They will be presenting an interactive Teen Driver Safety Program to all Juniors and Seniors. The Think Fast program is designed to be fun, interactive, and tailored to each age group and region, while also conveying safety information based on state and national guidelines. Prior to the survey they have asked that all of the participants complete a 5 minute survey to help them prepare for their presentation here at Bartlett. Please take a minute to complete the survey that I have sent to the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 emails.

Reminders Reminders

Buses

Students must ride the busses that are assigned to them according to where they live. Students will not be allowed onto a bus if it is not their assigned pickup location or their assigned bus. In the afternoon, students MUST board the busses at BHS. If a student goes to WMS to get on the bus, they WILL NOT be allowed onto the bus.

Doctor Notes

If your student is absent from school, a doctor's note that states, "the parent contacted our office to inform us their child was ill and did not attend school" is not accepted as an excused absences. These notes, however, will be considered when coding your student as "not truant". If a note has more information such as "based on the symptoms the child is presenting, our office has determined that it can be managed at home and should return to school on______", then the note will be reviewed and most likely be accepted as excused. Any further questions regarding doctor notes should be asked of the nurses' office, kpepin@webster-schools.org.

Student Food Delivery

This is not allowed under any circumstance. If you have forgotten your lunch, a family member can always bring your lunch to the main office. They must come into the office and bring it to Ms. Donnelly who will hold it until your lunch period. Door Dash and other delivery services will not be allowed into the building moving forward. This is explained in detail in our handbook.

Cell Phones

The use is not allowed in our classrooms from the beginning of the class until the end of the class. There are no exceptions to this. Please look in our handbook for the specific details. Reminder that if you put your phone in the door holder for the class period you will receive Bartlett Bucks each time!

Tardy to School

Our school day begins at 7:30am. This is the time that you need to be in your first period class. Saturday schools will be utilized for continued tardiness to school in the 4th quarter, for every 5 tardies to school, students will receive 1 Saturday School. If you are a sports player or take part in an after school activity, you MUST be here by 8am in order to participate.

Grading Policy

Loss of Points/Credit due to absences -

5-9 unexcused absences from a class will lose 10 points from their grade in that class for that quarter.

Grade/Credit Recovery Process:

Process 1 - Students can recover those lost points in the following quarter, if and only if, they have no more than 2 unexcused absences from that class during that quarter.

Process 2 (if last quarter of the course) - Students can work to recover lost points as soon as they reach their 5th unexcused absence by attending a 3 hour Saturday School session (up to 3 missed classes per session). Students may attend multiple sessions to recover for multiple courses if needed.

10 or more unexcused absences from a class will result in an automatic attendance failure for the quarter and receive a grade of a 40 (District Minimum Grade).

Grade/Credit Recovery Process:

Students may earn credit back by attending a 3 hour Saturday School session (up to 3 missed classes per session). Students may attend multiple sessions to recover for multiple courses if needed. They must attend enough Saturday School sessions to bring absences below 10 at which point the 10 point deduction will be enforced as noted above.

Attendance Policy

A public school district may excuse up to 7-day sessions or 14-half day sessions in any period of six months.

Based on this law, students may be approved for up to 7 excused absences in a 6 month period. Excused absences are defined as follows: Illness with medical documentation, A medical appointment that must be made during the school day, Observing a recognized religious holiday when the observance is during school, A family emergency, A planned absence for a personal or educational purpose that has been approved by the school, Educational disruption caused by a student's homelessness, unplanned hospitalization, or placement in foster care or a youth development center, Dismissal by the school nurse for illness.

**Note: Vacations will not be considered excused and should be avoided during days school is in session.

Bartlett Showcase

On Friday, May 2nd, more than 90 students in grades 5 through 12 presented 40 impressive projects in PLTW Engineering and Biomedical Science, along with presentations from Innovation Career Pathways and Chapter 74 internships.

The event was evaluated by nine industry professionals, including six from external companies such as RTX (Raytheon), Fidelity, and the One8 Foundation/Mass Learning Project, and True Robotics, along with two retired professionals. These judges engaged directly with students and offered insightful, encouraging feedback.

Our students demonstrated exceptional creativity, technical expertise, and professionalism — a true testament to their hard work and the strength of our programs.
