WELCOME BACK TO THE CREEK!

Welcome to a brand-new school year at Chandler Creek! We hope your summer was filled with rest, fun, and wonderful memories with family and friends. Our team has been hard at work getting the building ready, and we cannot wait to fill our classrooms with bright smiles, big energy, and joyful learning again.

Mark Your Calendars ~ Meet the Teacher!

We would love for you to join us for Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 6th, from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to drop off school supplies, tour the classroom, and connect with your child’s teacher before the first bell rings.

Meet Our New Mascot ~ CHAMP!

After receiving over 500 responses from staff, students, families, and community members, our school family has selected the Cub as Chandler Creek's new mascot! Thank you to everyone who participated in this exciting process. Your feedback helped shape this important decision, and we are so excited to begin building our new Champion tradition around CHAMP!

As we welcome CHAMP to our Champion Family, we’ll be focusing every day on our CHAMP core values:

  • Care

  • Honor

  • Achieve

  • Model

  • Persevere

Thank you for being such an essential partner in your child's education. Together, we are going to make this school year extraordinary!

2026-27 STUDENT HANDBOOK
The 2026-27 handbook (linked above) contains district and school-specific information for Chandler Creek. We encourage ALL parents to read through the handbook which is linked above and on our school website.

TEACHER ASSIGNMENTS

As a reminder, we no longer mail classroom assignment postcards.

Over the past several years, we've had many families tell us they never received their postcard in the mail. Because preparing and mailing hundreds of postcards is a time-consuming process - and it's disappointing when they don't make it to their destination - we've again decided to share teacher assignments in more reliable ways.

Here's how you'll find your child's teacher

  • Join us for Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 6th
  • Check your email (August 3rd) for a special link
  • Log in to Parent Backpack to view your child's teacher assignment

We can't wait to welcome everyone back for an amazing school year!

MORNING CAR LINE REMINDERS

A few reminders to help keep our car lines moving quickly ...
  • Pull all the way down to the end of the sidewalk and follow the guidance from the staff members that are on duty.

  • Students should be ready to exit the vehicle independently upon arrival. Please say your good-byes before your child exits the vehicle.
  • Students who are capable should open their own door and exit. Please do not wait for staff or safety patrol to open car doors.
  • The school day starts at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am need to be walked in by an adult and will be marked tardy.

AFTERNOON DISMISSAL REMINDERS

To help ensure a safe and efficient dismissal, please note that Chandler Creek has two car lines:

  • 4K–1st Grade ~ Side of the building near the football field
  • 2nd–5th Grade ~ Front of the school

Important reminders:

  • Please display your car tag every day for afternoon pickup.
  • Families with a 4K–1st grade student and older siblings should use the 4K–1st grade car line. Older siblings will join their younger sibling for pickup.
  • Car lines are typically longer during the first week of school. Thank you in advance for your patience as everyone learns the new routines.
  • No left turns are permitted when exiting the front car line from 7:15am–7:45am or 2:15pm–2:40pm.
  • In the front pickup loop, please do not advance past the cones in the inside lane. Filling both the curb lane and inside lane blocks traffic from exiting and prevents emergency vehicles from accessing the building. Vehicles in the inside lane should remain behind the cones until they are moved at approximately 1:50pm.

Thank you for helping us keep our students, families, and staff safe!

PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

In an effort to maximize academic instruction, limit electronic device distractions, and to provide consistency and clarity for parents and students, there are cell phone and electronic devices expectations for students at all levels. In elementary schools, students are prohibited from utilizing personal electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) during the school day, which is 7:45am to 2:15pm.

Students at Chandler Creek are expected to keep all cell phones and smart watches powered off and in their bookbags from the time they enter the school building until dismissal.

For additional details, please refer to the GCSD Cell Phone Policy.

TECHNOLOGY USE EXPECTATIONS

Greenville County Schools has implemented new expectations regarding student technology use to support learning while promoting healthy screen-time habits. While technology can enhance student learning , it is not a replacement for high-quality instruction delivered by a teacher.

For the 2026–2027 school year:

  • 4K, 5K and 1st grade classrooms will have a limited number of shared devices available for small-group instruction, assessments, literacy activities, and specific student needs.
  • Students in Grades 2–5 will be assigned an individual Chromebook; however, devices will be used primarily for state and district assessments and approved educational programs that support instruction.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are not permitted for student use in the elementary setting

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS FOR ALL STUDENTS

In accordance with the South Carolina Compulsory School Attendance law, the School District of Greenville County has uniform rules to ensure that students attend school regularly. Each day that students are not in school, they miss hours of valuable instruction and opportunities for learning that they will not have again. Students are counted present only when they are actually in school, on homebound instruction, or are present at an activity authorized by the school principal. A student is considered in attendance when present for at least three (3) hours of a school day.

Students must present a written excuse, signed by a parent/legal guardian or a medical professional, for all absences within 3 days of the student’s return to school. The written excuse should include the reason for and the date of absence. Without a valid written excuse, the absence will be recorded as unlawful. Absences in excess of 10 days will not be considered excused with a parent/guardian note unless accompanied by official medical documentation or approved by the principal.
