Card Party
The theme for the 2026 Card Party is ... DRUMROLL ... Survivor! Yes, like the TV show on CBS. It will be on Saturday, March 7th at 6pm in our very own PHS gymnasium. In case you've never heard of a Card Party before, it's a huge night of raffles. There are over 300 prizes of varying price categories with several ways to play and be a winner. This event is one of Preston High School's biggest fundraisers and there are plenty of ways for you as parents to get involved and contribute to its success!
- Gift Donations: If you wish to contribute a gift to be raffled off but aren't sure what to give, check out our Amazon Registry! This list is not all-inclusive but a great place to start. Any gifts donated must be new and unopened. https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3OF3JJAY8QVPC?ref=gr_search_page_result
- Gift Certificates: If you or a friend own a business, we hope you'll consider donating a gift certificate or two. If you feel comfortable soliciting local businesses, please contact gdelvalle@prestonhs.org as she could use help with that as well! All businesses that contribute will be included in the event program.
- Monetary Donations: If you'd like to become a sponsor or make a donation towards a money tree in honor of a student or alumna, those can be done via the link below or by sending in a check in an envelope with the student. You will be included in the event program. https://payit.nelnet.net/form/y3UOmbKp
- Wrapping: With over 300 prizes, there will also be lots of gifts to wrap. We'd love for those "master wrappers" to share their talents if possible. Please complete this form if interested in sharing your wrapping skills with us: https://forms.gle/dmurb4GdjNF3x4jL7 The next wrapping day will be on Thursday, February 26th at 3pm
- Volunteer: If you don't want to take your chances at playing, you can still help by working the evening and getting a feel for what the night is like. Please complete this form if interested in volunteering: https://forms.gle/dmurb4GdjNF3x4jL7
- Attend: Tickets are $30 per person or $300 for a table of 10. Call your friends, pack some snacks, fill the cooler and join us. This link can be used to purchase tickets: https://payit.nelnet.net/form/y3UOmbKp
Mother Daughter Brunch
The Mother Daughter Brunch is scheduled for Saturday March 28th from 11am-3pm at Marina Del Rey! This is a fun afternoon of dancing, good food, games, and of course an opportunity to spend quality time with your girl. Tickets are $85 per person or $170 for a pair. Tickets will be on sale until March 20th and can be purchased using this link: https://payit.nelnet.net/form/SMXj7GcJ . Preston Happenings
Compassion Connection
On January 29, Compassion Connection members gathered at their meeting to spread a little love with our senior citizen neighbors in the Preston Center of Compassion. They made 45 valentine packages - with chocolates, cookies and a valentine.
Congratulations to our Ethics Team!
Our Ethics Team members Amelia Cruz, Hailey Crespo , Amaris Appiah-Gyasi, Maivy Le , Kristina Dobrecovic and Elyssa Diaz proudly competed in the Dr. Siobhan Nash-Marshall Regional High School Ethics Bow,l on January 31st, at Sacred Heart Greenwich in Connecticut.
The team traveled, with club moderator Ms. Fatoumata and chaperone, Ms. A. Forlini, early Saturday morning—immediately following Lock-In (on very little sleep!)—and represented Preston with excellence.
While the team did not advance to the final rounds, they won two of their three matches. The final round ended in a tie and required a tiebreaker against a senior team. Throughout the competition, our students performed thoughtfully, conducted themselves with professionalism, and truly embodied Preston Pride.
Please join us in congratulating these dedicated students when you see them —especially for their commitment and perseverance after such a full and demanding weekend.
Black History Showcase
On February 5, the Leaders of Color Club hosted an inspiring Black History Showcase. Students honored Black women whose monumental contributions have shaped society, sharing their legacies with the community. The event also featured a performance by the Step Team, adding to the evening’s spirit of celebration and pride.

Courthouse Visit
Students and chaperones had the unique opportunity to attend National Court Reporters Day events at the Bronx County Courthouse this week. During their visit, students learned firsthand about the vital role court reporters play in the judicial system, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and access to justice. They observed courtroom proceedings, explored the technology used in modern court reporting, and engaged with professionals who shared insights into career pathways within the legal field. Experiences like this bring classroom learning to life—particularly for students interested in law, criminal justice, communications, and public service. We are grateful to our chaperones for supporting this meaningful opportunity and to the courthouse staff for welcoming our students and helping them better understand the important work that happens every day in our courts.
Annual Lock-In
Preston held our Lock-In from January 30-31. 175 students attended and spent the night dancing, playing dodgeball, and watching movies! A special shout-out goes to our parent volunteers who helped make this event a success.
