A Message From Mrs. Lucas, BHS Principal
Hello Battlefield Families,
This message contains our standard reminders as well as information about our students and the game “Senior Assassin.”
Accessing and Reviewing ParentVUE
ParentVUE is our go-to portal for checking grades, attendance, and school updates. We encourage you to take a look regularly so you can celebrate progress and stay on top of anything that may need attention. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s current academic progress, please reach out to the teacher(s) so we can partner with you to support your student.
Khan Academy
We invite students to use Khan Academy to build confidence and sharpen their skills in reading, writing, and math. This free resource is available to all PWCS students and is a great way to get in a little extra practice at home.
Student Recognition
Congratulations to our students who were selected to participate in the Summer Governors’ School program. This year, we have students attending a variety of content areas including Agriculture, Humanities, Theater, Dance, and Math/Science/Technology.
Congratulations to one of our own for earning the Youth Congressional Award Gold Medal.
Congratulations to our student whose artwork was selected for the annual Law Day Art Contest. Her artwork, titled “Justice for All,” will be on display in the PWC courthouse.
There are so many accolades to share, and these are just to highlight a few. We are proud of all our Battlefield Bobcats students for their continued pursuit in success.
Awareness of Senior Year Game
As we near the end of the school year, we want to make families aware of a game some seniors may be participating in, commonly known as “Senior Assassin” or “Senior Water Wars.” This game typically involves students using water or toy Nerf-style blasters to “tag” classmates.
While we have not had any incidents of this specific game on school grounds, we are aware that some of this game activity is happening in neighborhoods. We want to remind families that even toy weapons can cause concern—especially when they resemble real ones. Please talk with your student about making safe choices and avoiding any activities involving toy weapons near school property.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our school community safe.
I wish you a wonderful weekend!
Principal Lucas

"The Friday parent forum has been extremely informative and conversational. As a parent, this is a great opportunity to have a direct conversation with BHS admin staff and to better understand ongoing efforts in tackling various priorities. Hats off to all school staff who are dedicated to our school community. I have learned so much from each staff including the security officer, school nurse, director of student services and school psychiatrist. Each of them demonstrated professionalism with content specific knowledge. They actively listened to parents' voices and responded with thoughtful thinking.
Thank Michele for organizing this weekly parent forum. All parents, I strongly recommend your joining us for future sessions."

Tutoring Opportunities
Varsity Tutoring

SAT Prep Classes
Khan Academy Free Access via the PWCS Portal for Students
All students in grades 9–12 now have access to Khan Academy through the PWCS Portal, powered by ClassLink. This learning platform offers personalized tools, instructional videos, and practice assessments designed to support academic success—especially in preparation for the PSAT and SAT.
Getting Started Is Easy:
Log in using your PWCS username and password (do not include “@pwcs-edu.org”).
Click the Khan Academy icon to launch the app and begin exploring resources.
Khan Academy is highly recommended for students preparing for standardized tests. Its content is aligned with College Board standards offering targeted practice to help students build confidence and improve performance. The most commonly used SAT preparation courses include:
SAT: Math
SAT: Reading and Writing
These courses are selected because they reflect the core sections of the SAT exam. Khan Academy’s SAT Math course covers algebra, problem-solving, data analysis, and advanced math topics. The Reading and Writing course focuses on grammar, vocabulary in context, and evidence-based reading comprehension, all essential skills for the SAT.
To access the SAT Prep courses, click on the “Courses” menu located at the top of the screen. Scroll down and select “Test Prep” from the list of available subjects. Under the Test Prep section, this where you’ll find the two main course options: “SAT Math” and “SAT Reading and Writing.” These courses are designed in partnership with the College Board and provide targeted practice aligned with the actual SAT exam format.
PWCS encourages all high school students to take advantage of this district provided resource to support their learning and college readiness.
