Dear West Point Families,

Happy Easter! We hope you have had a wonderful weekend.

Our PTA Fun Run is this Monday! As of Friday morning, we have raised $4,840.00, which is 44% of our goal. If you have not already donated, you can do so at the following link. https://www.givebacks.com/causes/991e197f-ea4b-471e-bc3a-2c2fc07dd061/campaigns/14fc137627

The PTA is also holding their 50% Off Scholastic Book Fair this week. Students can use their Scholastic dollars from Read Across America Week at the Book Fair. Our Lost and Found items will be on display as well. Please take a few minutes to see if you recognize any of the items.

Thank you for your support of the PTA and all they do for our school!

Here are three important things to know for the coming week.

  1. If you haven't done so, please return the yellow Excellence Project slip to school on Monday for students who are participating. This note lets us know how your student will be displaying their project and helps us plan the set up. We will display students' excellence projects Wednesday, May 7 - Wednesday, May 14. Thank you!
  2. April is the Month of the Military Child. Students are invited to wear purple every Friday (or their school spirit shirt) to honor the unique sacrifices of our military children and families.
  3. End-of-year testing has begun! Teachers are sending testing information for their individual classes. Please help your student by making sure they get to bed on time, eat breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Thank you!

Every day is a great day to be a Wildcat!

Sincerely,

Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy
Principal and Administrative Intern, West Point Elementary

April Brag Tags

April is our last month for students to earn attendance and reading brag tags. Please encourage your students to earn their brag tags this month! Students can earn an attendance brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.

Magical Manners

We are going revisiting some of our favorite manners for the remainder of the year. This week's manner is, "Be a good friend during recess." We love this reminder that recess should be fun for everyone. Students will discuss why it is important to keep sports and games school friendly and why it is not good sportsmanship to change rules, exclude others, trash talk, and more. Having fun, building relationships, and getting to move and play are what make recess enjoyable for all!

April's LETTERING Focus - P for Perseverance

This month we are focusing on Perseverance. Perseverance includes working through challenges and not giving up until you meet your goal. Students will have an opportunity to pick a goal for the month of April and identify something they can do each day to achieve that goal. They will be asked to spend 10 minutes/day practicing or working towards their goal. It can be something as simple as reading an extra 10 minutes/day, practicing a musical instrument or a sports skill, etc. Students who complete this challenge will earn their letter P for the month!

Attendance Adds Up

Please be aware of your students' attendance and help them to be at school every day. We understand that students who are sick need to be home. However, missing a day of school here and there adds up quickly and puts students behind. Thank you for your support!
