TIK TOK TIK TOK

It has come to our attention that there is a TikTok account with the handle @stagebarnmiddleguesswho that many of our students follow, especially our 6th grade students. This account is very negative in nature and asks its followers to "Guess Who" based on some clues about various students that are mean, vulgar, and hurtful. Please visit with your students, ask if they follow this account and if they do, please ask them to "un-follow" in an attempt to shut this account down. Thank you!

UPDATED ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE UPDATED ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to announce that we have developed a new attendance email address for our students. This email address will allow students and parents to report absences and tardies and receive notifications regarding attendance issues.

The new email address is: MeadeSMSOffice@k12.sd.us.

Please note that emails to this address will be received by our attendance office staff and will be forwarded to your child's teacher for record-keeping purposes. We encourage you and your child to utilize this new system to report any absences or tardy in a timely and efficient manner. This will help us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure that your child receives the necessary support to succeed in school.

If you have any questions or concerns about this new system, please do not hesitate to contact the attendance office at (605) 787-4172 or at MeadeSMSOffice@k12.sd.us.

State Assessment State Assessment

Dear Parent or Guardian:

On April 18 & 19 students in grades 5-8 will take the state assessment in (a) English Language Arts and (b) Mathematics. Students in grades 5 & 8 will take the state assessment in (c) Science on April 27. The purpose of this letter is to help in your understanding of the assessment, as well as providing a few ideas for improving your child's preparedness.

The assessments measure student achievement of our state's standards in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. In addition, score reports will provide information on student performance in the following areas:

o English: Reading, writing, listening, & research

o Math: Concepts and procedures; problem-solving and modeling/data analysis; &

communicating reasoning

o Science: physical science, life science, and earth & space science

The assessments are given through an online computer application and are unique in the way they adapt to a student's question responses. This is important as it provides questions that are appropriate for your child's level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude towards testing. These assessments are not timed; however, we provide the following times as estimates of assessment duration: (a) English - 3.5 hours, (b) Math - 3 hours and (c) Science - 1.5 hours.

Student grades will not be impacted by their performance on this assessment, however the assessment does serve as a way for the school to analyze how well we are helping students meet the standards. Shortly after the testing period is complete, you will receive a report showing your child's scores.

There is no need to study in preparation for the assessments. We do, however, ask that students try their best and get plenty of rest the night before testing. It is important for students to come to school on test days. Assessments are required, therefore making up a missed assessment leads to less instructional time and a loss of important learning opportunities.

This testing is very important for your child, Stagebarn Middle School and the Meade School District. Thank you for supporting your child and our school during this assessment period. Please contact us if you have any questions.

📣 DONATIONS NEEDED 📣 📣 DONATIONS NEEDED 📣

The Culturize Club has started "AWESOME SHOUTOUTS" between Stagebarn Staff Members. If a staff member sees a coworker do something AWESOME, such as making coffee, covering a morning duty, or simply making you smile, the Culturize Club will give them a SHOUTOUT. Certificates are printed and delivered periodically to make someone's day brighter! Every month, the names of people who are nominated will go into a drawing for a prize!

This is where we could use YOUR help! We are looking for donations that could be given as prizes! Some ideas may include: Small Coffee gift cards, pens, candy bars, if you are crafty or have a business and you would like to donate something. Anything--it does NOT have to be large! We appreciate all gifts and your time helping out with this act of kindness!
