Central Elementary Bits and Bites

We had a great first week getting back into the swing of things and enjoyed celebrating being back together on Thursday during our CES Back to School Swim! We hope your kiddos enjoyed their first week back and families were able to ease into the school season once again. This week we will begin our beginning of school assessments to place students in our WIN Time Groups and get organized for students receiving interventions. We will also begin our RISE Time groups this week in the mornings.
What is WIN Time?
WIN Time stands for What I Need- we group students based on skill level in the area of reading. This is a 30 minute time where all K-6th Graders go to their specific groups to fill in any gaps or receive opportunities of enrichment. Our goal with this program is to help students grow from where they are and meet the needs of each student. For math, we work with each teacher's math time to push in interventionists who work with a small group of students or one on one to get them caught up if needed.
What is RISE Time?
RISE Time is where our 3rd-6th graders get to choose an area where they would like to serve in our school. This is an opportunity to practice their leadership skills! We have groups that focus on Agriculture- chickens and the garden, morning announcements where they write and perform daily to the whole school and lead our mornings together, a group who creates and publishes a running slideshow in the commons, our media group that pushes out posts for our social media pages, an art group who makes and hangs up artwork around the school for all to enjoy, and a CES News group that produces and shares a weekly video.
We are getting into the swing of things again and can't wait to share our learning and adventures with all of you!
