What's Happening in Our School!
January
A Word From Mr. Quillen
PES Family,
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and joyful Christmas break filled with time to relax and recharge. It has been wonderful to see our students return with smiling faces and ready-to-learn attitudes. As we begin the second semester, I am excited about the growth, learning, and successes that lie ahead for our school community.
This month, our students will be preparing for ILEARN Checkpoints, which help teachers understand how students are progressing and guide instruction moving forward. Later this semester, students will also participate in the IREAD and ILEARN assessments. Our staff is working hard to support students every step of the way, and we appreciate your continued encouragement at home—confidence, good sleep, and positive attitudes make a big difference!
As we move through winter and into early spring, please remember to be prepared for sudden changes in weather and temperature. Sending students to school with layers, coats, and appropriate gear will help ensure they are comfortable and ready for the day.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we are looking forward to a strong, successful, and joyful second semester!
Sincerely,
Mr. Quillen

Staff Highlight!
Adam Berry
Dean of Students
Adam Berry is Pioneer Elementary's Dean of Students, as well as our Varsity Football Coach! Mr. Berry attended Ball State for his Elementary Education and Physical Education K-12 degrees. He also received his Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Prior to becoming the Dean of Students, he taught PE at the elementary and high school levels and coached a wide variety of athletics.
Mr. Berry states, "My favorite thing about the Pioneer Community is how they support our students through academics and athletics even after they graduate from Pioneer."
His favorite memory so far is watching the state championship games between football, softball, volleyball, and girl's basketball from 2017-2020! Coach Berry has definitely had a hand in helping our athletics get there!
