Mill Valley Weekly
January 8th, 2026
Hello Mill Valley Families,
As we turn the page to January 2026, I am excited for the fresh energy and opportunities this time brings. While our school year is well underway, January is a wonderful moment to pause, reflect on how our school is a special place because of the people in it—our students, staff, and families—and the care we show one another each day. As we start the year, we do so with high hopes, positive energy, and a shared commitment to helping every child learn, grow. and succeed.
As we move into this new year, our focus remains strong: continued growth for every student, acting with integrity, and continuing to build a school that feels like family. We believe in celebrating progress, learning from challenges, and supporting one another every step of the way. Together, as students, staff, and families, we will continue building on our successes and making 2026 a year filled with learning, kindness, and shared achievement. I can’t wait to see all that we will accomplish together this year—let’s make it our best one yet!

Third Grade Student Council has started a Recycle Club. Members gave a presentation to each classroom about recycling and placed reminder signs around the school. They take the recycling out once a week. The Golden Recycle Bin winners are selected and announced at Golden Awards by the Student Council members.
Classroom Goals By Month
Each month, every classroom sets its own behavior goal to work toward together. These goals might include things like: walking quietly and respectfully in the hallways or making good choices about who we sit with during learning and work time.
At the end of the month, classrooms that meet their goal get to participate in a Minute-To-Win-It game during our Golden Awards assembly. Take a look at the fun below!

PBIS December Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students for December:
First, Second and Fourth grades tied with the least number of majors and minors.
Referrals most often happen in the hallway
Most of the majors and minors in the hallway were reported as physical contact, inappropriate language, and disruptive behavior.
Referrals happen least often in specials, the bathroom and on the bus.
Most kids at Mill Valley are doing a great job of trying their best and aren’t receiving behavior referrals.
In addition, our students have earned 1,876 Paw Prints in the month of December! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.

Request from the Health Room
With all the wet, sloppy weather lately, many students have needed a change of pants during the school day after recess. Which means we are in need of replenishing a stock of extra pants to have available for students to borrow, if needed.
You can help by:
1️⃣ Returning borrowed clothing — If your child borrows clothes from the health room, please remember to send them back to school.
2️⃣ Donating extra pants — If you have gently used boys’ or girls’ sweat/comfy pants you’d like to donate, please send them in!
Your support helps us keep students comfortable and learning. Thank you!
