AHS April Updates

April 1st is the SAT. All Juniors are required to come to school and take the test. All other students will be in regular classes. Juniors will be released to the regular day after testing.

April 8th is the ASR. Juniors will test in the morning. Students will continue on in regular classes during this time.

Both tests are mandatory graduation requirements. Electronics will not be permitted during testing. Students will not have access to phones, watches etc. until they leave to lunch. Please do not check students out during these tests as it will invalidate their test.

If you have a Junior, you will have received an email from Jane Wood with specific testing information about your child. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Prom/Attendance -- Prom tickets will go on sale April 13th. Guest forms are available to be picked up in the front office as soon as we return from Spring Break. Students wanting to buy tickets to prom need to be sure their truancy rate is 10% or lower. We have been announcing this since December to students about getting their attendance rates in check.

Honor Roll Amazing Tiger - Will be April 9th instead

Junior Leadership Camp-- Do you have a Junior who you feel would benefit from a free week long leadership camp in the Manzano Mountains? See the flyers below about how to apply.

AHS Art Show-- May 14th in the Art Hall from 5:00 - 7 :00pm.

Final Exams -- Before you know it Final Exam time will be here. See below for our Final Exam schedule for the end of May.

Summer School Sign ups will not start until May. We will have more information on the May newsletter. Spots are limited. If students do not arrive on time or do not take advantage of summer school, they will be asked to stay home so we can invite a student who is serious about earning credit. Incoming Seniors and Juniors will have priority, but we can still take all sign ups and call in the first week after we who showed up compared to who signed up.

April is Month of the Military Child -- Here are some events being put on by Holloman Middle school if you would like to participate.

1. Month of the Military Shirts – Orders are open now, but the sale ends April 5th. MOMC Order Form Please encourage everyone to order and show their support.
2. MOMC Color Run – Join us for a fun celebration on April 26th at 1:00 PM! This is a great way to honor our military children and build a new annual tradition. Registration is open here: Color Run Register Form
3. Base Access Form: Please complete for all members who DO NOT have base access Base Access Form

Herff Jones -- If you have not ordered graduation caps and gowns, be sure to go to herffjones.com asap and get those ordered. Please see Adeline Derenzy email about how to find the cap and gown on the website.

They will be at AHS April 7th from 11 am to 2pm to distribute cap and gowns that have already been purchased.

It is SUPER IMPORTANT to be ATTENDING CLASS!!!!

Spring testing -- April 1st & 8th -- If you student is graduating early or moved here this year, they will need to participate in Spring Junior testing which is mandatory for Graduation. If your child is in need of this, Mrs. Wood will be in contact with them.

FEES -- Be checking with the Bookstore if you owe fees. Many students have fees from prior years. You will not receive a physical diploma if fees are still on your account at graduation.

Golden Scholar Night -- April 29, 6:00 pm AHS Cafeteria

• Golden Scholar Night is when we honor our students who have kept a GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Senior Salute -- Senior Salute to our Military Connected kids. See flyer below to learn more about how to be a part of this.

Scholarship Night -- May 6, 6:00 pm AHS Cafeteria

• If your child has received a scholarship from a college or organization, please let Mrs. Christina Huerta know so we can honor them at our Scholarship Night

Senior Finals -- May 14 & 15

Informal Graduation Practice -- May 20th 10:00 - 12::00 ish

Formal Graduation Practice -- May 21st, 3:00- 5:00 ish

• This is when parents can come and take pictures on the field of your graduate.

Graduation -- May 22, 7pm, AHS Stadium

Seniors should be here by 5:30
