EAGLE EXTRA!

Argyle ISD is proud to announce three outstanding Argyle High School seniors have been named Semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Liyah Cha, Sri Abhinav Thatavarthi and Rylee Pizana are this year’s AHS students recognized for this national achievement!

“We are incredibly proud of our three National Merit Semifinalists,” Argyle High School Principal Shannon Knowles said. “Their achievement is the result of years of hard work, focus, and a commitment to excellence. They represent the very best of what it means to be an Argyle Eagle, and we are excited to see all the doors this accomplishment will open for them.”

These academically talented students are among approximately 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide recognized for their exceptional performance on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

These students now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be awarded next spring. To advance, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to become Finalists, including submitting a detailed scholarship application, maintaining an excellent academic record, and achieving confirming SAT® or ACT® scores. About 95 percent of Semifinalists are expected to advance to Finalist standing, and approximately half of those will win a National Merit Scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), a not-for-profit organization established in 1955, conducts the National Merit Scholarship Program without government assistance. Scholarships are funded by NMSC, along with nearly 300 business organizations, higher education institutions, and individual donors who share the mission of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging academic excellence.

Over 1.3 million juniors in more than 20,000 high schools entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in 2024. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

The big announcement is coming tonight! The Argyle High School Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime on the field at the Argyle vs. Timberview game.

Senior Homecoming Court nominees at AHS include: (from left to right:) Nic Adams, Bentley Mitteis, Sager Zamzow Braden Bach, Presley Hawkesworth, Skylar Nguyen, Amber Lewis and Liyah Cha.

Just a friendly reminder for Argyle ISD families...Monday, September 15 is a student holiday. Eagles, enjoy a fun and safe three-day weekend. Monday will also serve as a virtual teacher workday.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16 all campuses and offices will resume regular daily schedules.

We celebrated with our beloved Argyle ISD Silver Eagles as they were gifted with a new mortgage-free home in Harvest made possible by Building Homes For Heroes, Highland Homes and Hillwood Communities.

AHS Band, Cheer, Majestics and Eagle football players were part of this special celebration on 9/11 for Gretchen & Bob! Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter was among the guest speakers and delivered a great message of how we are all inspired by Gretchen!

Grandparents Day Parades were another huge hit on our elementary campuses this year. We had an amazing variety of decorated vehicles that thrilled all our Eagle students.

This district tradition includes signs and students lined all around the campuses waving at all our Eagle family members.

This week's In The Classroom focus is at Hilltop Elementary!

JRE FACEBOOK (9/12/25)

Every day, bus drivers make a difference in students’ lives! From the first “good morning” to the last “see you tomorrow,” they set the tone for the day and ensure kids feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn. Their kindness, patience, and dedication often create the very first smile of the school day.

Today we celebrated our amazing AISD bus drivers by having them over to JRE for Tacos with Transportation!!

Let’s celebrate bus drivers—the unsung heroes who carry futures, one ride at a time!
