Principal's Weekly Update #29
April 18, 2025
Dear Wales Families,
Last week NYS experienced a slowdown within the testing platform. This caused some difficulty in signing into the system. We made the decision to reschedule our assessment dates until after spring break. Wales primary third grade students will participate in the ELA NYS assessment on Tuesday 4/22 and Wednesday 4/23.
We still have several fire drills to conduct. We hope to complete them over the next two weeks, weather permitting.
Life as a parent can be hectic, and juggling all our adult responsibilities can create a busy lifestyle. These last two weeks, my mother has had some medical concerns. I was blessed to be able to spend time with my parents during this time. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them and am reminded that time goes by quickly and life's circumstances can change at any time. I hope this week you and your family found time to do something fun. At the Morrison home, we have tried to get the children outside to play everyday and the unexpected snow this week gave us time to slow down and pull out some board and card games. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week as school resumes. Have a wonderful weekend.
Have a great week and thank you for all you do to support Wales!

🥰Mother's Day is coming soon. We have several ways you can get meaningful gifts for your families while supporting your school: Square 1 Art and our annual flower sale, which is coming up soon. My favorite gifts from my children are the mugs or items with my kiddos artwork on them. You can order fun options with the link below for Square 1 Art. They are perfect for Mother's or Father's day or birthdays! Hanging baskets and flowers will be delivered before Mother's Day, making them the perfect gift. The hanging baskets are bountiful and beautiful!
PTO News and Updates
News and updates from the PTO:
PTO still needs volunteers to fill indispensable position vacancies on next year's PTO Board. A Co-President and Fundraising Chair volunteer is required for the PTO to continue to offer next year's students all of the events and activities it supports. Voting will be held at the 5/1/25 PTO meeting - this is a current need! Please check the flyer sent home from school for more information about this need and the role of the PTO in our school community.
Kindergarten Registration 2025-2026
As we prepare for Kindergarten Registration, we’d like to share some important information:
- If your child is an Iroquois UPK student, you do NOT need to re-register them for Kindergarten. Your child is already registered and will attend the primary building based on your residence.
- The only additional requirement is to submit an updated health form and immunization record to the nurse at the primary building your child will attend (Elma, Marilla, or Wales).
- You will receive communication from the primary building regarding any Kindergarten transition events.
- Kindergarten Screening for UPK students will take place in May during their school day, so parents do not need to schedule a separate screening appointment. Further details about the screening process will be sent home.
If you have any questions about the transition to Kindergarten, please contact the Wales Primary Office at (716) 652-3000 x 4001.
2025/2026 UPK registration is open as well. Please see the district webpage for details.
