๐Ÿพ Bulldog Weekly Reminder ๐Ÿพ

Late Arrivals, Early Pickups, and Parent Pick-Up Reminders

To help keep all students' safe and accounted for, please follow these procedures:

๐Ÿ•’ Late Arrival

  • If your child arrives after the start of the school day, they are considered tardy.
  • An adult must accompany them to the office and sign them in.
  • Use the lobby kiosk by selecting "Student" and entering your child's 5-digit student ID (lunch number) or their name.

๐Ÿš— Early Pick-Up

  • If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, bring your driver's license.
  • Use the lobby kiosk to scan your license and select "Picking Up a Student."
  • If you need assistance, the front office will be happy to help.
  • Early pickup ends at 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 p.m., students will be dismissed through regular car rider procedures in the cafeteria.

๐Ÿ“ End-of-Day Parent Pick-Up Changes

  • If your child is not a regular car rider but will be picked up at dismissal, please notify the school that morning by:
    • Sending a note to your child's teacher, or
    • Emailing BAESAttendance@calvertnet.k12.md.us
  • Be sure to include who will be picking up your child.
  • For student safety, we cannot accommodate "surprise" car riders. If the school does not receive notification and your child has not been signed out before buses are called, your child will ride their assigned bus home.

As we enter cold and flu season, we ask families to please notify both your child's teacher and the school nurse whenever your student is absent due to illness. Keeping us informed helps us monitor illness trends within our school community and provide appropriate support when needed.

If your child has been evaluated by a healthcare provider and receives a positive diagnosis for illnesses such as flu, COVID-19, strep throat, RSV, or other contagious conditions, please let us know. This information assists our school nurse in tracking patterns of illness and monitoring potential outbreaks.

Show Up. Shine Bright. Unlock Your Bulldog Potential! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿพ

Health & Wellness Resources for Families:

I would like to share several health and wellness resources that may be helpful for your student and family-

Mental Health Services in School If you are having difficulty scheduling appointments for counseling services or mental health medication management, please review the attached flyer. The Calvert County Health Department can provide services within the school setting to help streamline access to counseling and medication management for students.

Care Coordination and Medical Support If your family needs assistance navigating medical care, accessing healthcare services, or connecting with community resources, please see the attached flyer to learn about additional support that may be available.

Hearing and Vision Screenings The Health Department will be visiting Barstow during the week of January 25, 2027, to conduct hearing and vision screenings. The attached flyer explains who is screened, why screenings are important, and what families can expect during the process.

Please note that screenings occur during the winter cold and flu season when congestion and illness can impact results and students are often absent. I encourage families to schedule annual hearing and vision evaluations with their student's healthcare providers, especially if there are any concerns.

Mobile Medical Services If transportation to medical appointments is challenging, please review the attached flyer about mobile healthcare services. Bringing healthcare services directly to your home may help remove barriers to receiving needed care.

Please do not estimate the little things that go a long way such as hand washing, vitamins, proper sleep, fresh air, and plentiful doses of laughter ๐Ÿ˜Š

Warmly,

Jessica Farster, BSN RN
