Is your child a walker?
Dismissal Reminder, Collins Families! We've received concerns from businesses at the Cochran's Crossing Kroger shopping center about cars using their parking spaces during dismissal. If your child is a walker, they need to be walking to a residence. If you are picking up by car, please use the Collins car line. Thank you for helping us be good neighbors!
Reminder about Lunch and/or Item Drop Offs:
Item and lunch drop-offs should be limited to occasional needs rather than daily routines in order to help students build responsibility and accountability by planning ahead and keeping track of their belongings.
Parents may drop off items at the table in front of the office area. Front office staff will notify teachers through email, but teachers may not check email until conference periods. It is the studentโs responsibility to check the table for instruments, homework, and other needed items.
Lunch drop offs should be reserved for special occasions or when a lunch is occasionally forgotten at home. Lunches may only be dropped off for your own child and cannot be delivered for other students. Collins does not accept any food deliveries from outside companies for students (examples: Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc).
Gifted and Talented
We are accepting nominations for Gifted and Talented (GT) testing from October 1-December 18, 2026. Testing will occur in January/February, and results will be sent home in May. If your child has already been identified as GT, they do not need to test again. GT identification carries over from year to year. If you are interested in nominating your child for testing, please fill out the attached nomination form and send it to Lisa Lackey at llackey@conroeisd.net before December 18, 2026. Nominations will not be accepted after December 18.
Attendance Celebration
Attendance for this first nine weeks was 97.66%! Thank you for making school a priority and ensuring your child is here and ready to learn each day. Letโs keep the momentum going into the second nine weeks, as consistent attendance is key to student success!

Parent Tip: Social Media Awareness
As a reminder, most social media platforms, such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, require users to be at least 13 years old to have a regular account. We encourage parents to monitor their childrenโs social media use and review age requirements and privacy settings for all platforms.
Please also remind your child that expectations for respectful behavior extend to their online interactions. Posting hurtful comments, targeting other students or staff, impersonating others, or creating accounts that misuse school names, logos, or mascots can raise serious concerns. Online activity may have school consequences when it violates district policies or applicable law.
We appreciate your partnership in helping our students make safe, responsible, and respectful choices both at school and online.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming November 6th - 13th! The perfect time for early holiday shopping, too!
Bully Prevention Month
Get ready to stand up to bullying! October is Bully Prevention Month, and we're looking forward to celebrating kindness and empathy with our students. Throughout the month, we'll be doing some fun, small activities to help our students learn what it means to be an upstander and create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
In honor of Bully Prevention Month, we will also be celebrating National Unity Day on Wednesday, October 21. We encourage students to wear orange on this day to show their support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

This October, to align with bullying prevention, our students will be focusing on the character trait of Respect. Studnets will be eminded to use good manners, accept others and their differences, handle conflicts peacefully.
We will be hosting our second Coffee Talk on Thursday, October 29th! The focus of this discussion will be social development and we have invited our district mental health specilist to come and lead the converstaion on"playground politics". This will be learning how to recognize healthy social development, spot signs of stress, differentiate conflict from bullying, and empower your child with practical friendship strategies.

Dismissal Reminders
๐ Car Line Etiquette: Help Us Keep Dismissal Moving!
We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work to make dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for everyone! Please keep these car line expectations in mind:
- Have your car rider sign visible on your dashboard. This helps our staff quickly and safely identify your student. If you do not have your sign, you will be asked to pull through to the 5th Grade Bike Rack to verify your information. Please expect a delay. This delays your own child coming out and can also create a backup in the car line.
- Please do not cut in front of other cars. Cutting into the line disrupts the established order and makes it more difficult for our staff to safely manage dismissal.
- There are NO left turns into Collins from Shadowbend during dismissal. Please follow the designated traffic pattern and enter the car line at the end.
We know dismissal can be busy, and we truly appreciate your continued patience, cooperation, and respect for our staff and student safety. Following these simple expectations helps us get every Cobra home safely and as quickly as possible!
RAINY DAY DISMISSAL
Dismissal in Bad Weather
In the event of inclement or severe weather, be sure to check your email for updates on whether or not we will have rainy day dismissal.
If there is extreme weather (wind, hail, lightning, extreme rain) predicted to occur at 4:05 PM we will not allow students to walk or bike ride home - parents can join the car line, or walk up to the door by the 5th grade bike rack and check your child out with a staff member (please have car rider sign).
Every parent should have a car rider sign, and it should be visible in the car rider line. If you are picking up additional students due to rainy day dismissal, please write each studentโs ID number as large as possible on a piece of paper. Families without the car rider signs and without the student ID slows the process down substantially.
We will do our best to make a "Rainy Day Dismissal" decision by 3:45PM to alert families of the change. Please have a "Plan B" established with your child so they will know how they are getting home when a "Rainy Day Dismissal" is called.
