Cell Phones/Smart Watches/Ear Buds
Illinois Senate Bill 2427
The governor signed Senate Bill 2427, “requir[ing] school districts to develop and implement a bell-to-bell policy, restricting access to cell phones between the hours of the first arrival bell to the final dismissal bell.” What this means for Paw Paw School is that all students’ phones, ear buds and smart watches will be in YONDR Pouches from the time the morning bell rings at 8:00 a.m. until the end of the school day at 3:00 p.m. JH students will be able to keep their YONDR Pouches with them during the day. Elementary students that have cell phones at school will keep their phones in the YONDR Pouches in a basket in their classroom. For elementary students that do not have a phone or smartwatch, no YONDR Pouch will be assigned to them. This article summarizes the bill. Students still will be able to use their phones before and after school. Smartwatches and earbuds will be placed in YONDR Pouches as well per our student handbook.

HANDLE WITH CARE
Handle with Care
If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details, and that is okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please message us, “Handle with care.” Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help throughout the school day.

Family Needs Assessment
Dear Parents and Guardians,
At Paw Paw, we are committed to enhancing the wellbeing of families within our community. To better understand the needs and challenges faced by families here, we are sending out a quick Family Needs Questionnaire. Your participation is highly encouraged, as it will help us improve our ability to provide services and support to address the issues that matter most to you and your family. The answers you provide will be kept confidential and be used only for the purpose of providing you with information and resources regarding your families needs. To participate in the Family Needs Questionnaire, please click here.
We understand that your time is important, and we genuinely appreciate your willingness to participate. In the coming weeks, our team will be reaching out to those who requested it.
Thank you for your help in building a stronger, more supportive community for all. Together, we can make a difference. If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer DuBois at, jdubois@2paws.net
