Safety First: Creating a Respectful Community Together
We kindly ask for your continued support in fostering a safe and respectful environment for our students and our surrounding community. As you drop off or pick up your student, we urge you to be considerate of our neighbors and mindful of both pedestrian and driver safety. We encourage you to have these important conversations with your students as well.
Please take the following into account:
Obey Traffic, Speed, and Parking Regulations: Adhere to all posted traffic signs and speed limits around the school. Double parking or stopping in restricted areas can create dangerous conditions for our students and neighbors.
Avoid Blocking Driveways: Please do not block the driveways of homes in the surrounding neighborhood. This causes frustration for residents and limits access to their homes.
Respect Our Neighbors' Property: Refrain from parking on, leaving trash, or damaging lawns, driveways, and yards. Being a good neighbor includes treating their property with the same respect you would want for your own.
Use Crosswalks: For your safety and the safety of others, always cross streets at designated crosswalks. Avoid jaywalking, which increases the risk of accidents.
Be Aware of Oncoming Traffic: Be cautious when stepping off the curb or exiting vehicles, and remind students to look both ways before crossing the street.
Cyclists, Skateboarders, and Scooter Riders: Whether riding bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or E-bikes, it is crucial to follow all traffic laws. Students who ride to school are required to take a safety workshop with our School Resource Officer and display an approved parking permit.
Together, we can create a safer and more respectful environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and for discussing these important safety guidelines with your student.

IB Students Shining in Science!
IB students Christina Chen and Angela Wang have had their groundbreaking research published in the Journal of High School Science. Their study addresses a major limitation in modern brachial prosthetics—the lack of touch sensors that can detect multiple sensations simultaneously. The duo designed a sensor capable of detecting both pressure and texture, combining these inputs into a single electrical signal sent to the user. Their simulations showed that variations in pressure and texture produce distinct electrical patterns, allowing users to theoretically perceive different sensations through changes in signal strength and pulse frequency. This innovative, non-invasive approach offers a promising step toward prosthetics that more accurately restore the human sense of touch.
Financial Aid Awareness
Our College & Career Center hosted an interactive booth and our Financial Aid Student Ambassador team helped spread awareness about the importance of financial aid and college savings! Students learned about CalKids and checked their eligibility, while those who completed their FAFSA or CADAA got a chance to spin the prize wheel. It was a fun and engaging way to help students take steps toward their college goals!
Students who want to learn more about CalKids or financial aid can reach out to our College & Career Center or our Financial Aid Student Ambassador team (Samantha Canal, Angela Feng, Isabella Gabaldon, Natalia Garcia, Freedom Garcia, Abigail Libatique, Hajra Nasir, Angie Salinas, and Mayumi Heart Vitug).
