Additionally, local employers and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board will share current high school job openings, alongside community partners like the YMCA, The Attic, and the Boys & Girls Club. Good Neighbor Reminder
Please use extra caution and consideration during pick up and drop off times. Here are some ways to be considerate to our Tartar families and surrounding THS community:
- Watch for pedestrians
- Maintain a slow speed
- No Stopping at red-painted curbs
- Don't block driveways - residential or parking lots
- Pull up to a curb or parking lot instead of double-parking
- No Stopping Signs on Plaza Del Amo near the District Offices. The large student parking lot on Plaza Del Amo is open and available and should be used for pick up and drop off.
Please share this message with your student driver and any family or friends who may be driving your student to and from school. It takes everyone’s participation to keep our families and neighbors safe!

California State University (CSU) Direct Admission Initiative
We’re excited to announce that the Torrance Unified School District is partnering with the California State University (CSU) system to participate in a Direct Admission Initiative.
High school seniors (12th graders) who are CSU eligible — or on track to meet eligibility — will receive direct communication from CSU letting them know they qualify for admission. Students who are not CSU eligible will receive information about the Transfer Success Pathway program, which provides a clear path to transfer to a CSU campus after completing community college requirements.
This initiative helps ensure that every student receives guidance and opportunity on their journey to a college degree. Below are some examples of what the letters from the CSU Direct Admission Initiative will look like.
Any student who intends to attend a CSU, will still be required to apply via the normal CSU application process. The Direct Admission Initiative is a preliminary indication that if a student applies to a specific CSU listed on their letter, will have conditional admission acceptance pending review of their completed CSU application.
Be on the look out for these communications in your mailbox during the month of October!
