Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat…

Hello Lakeside Parents and Guardians,

Good evening. This is Mrs. Smith, principal at Lakeside Elementary. My thoughts have been with our entire school community the past several weeks. This is a challenging time for everyone, but please know that we are here for you and focused on reconnecting with students as we prepare to start Learn at Home Activities. Per Governor Holcomb’s executive order, all Warren Township schools will be closed for the reminder of the school year. Even though we will not be meeting in person, we are excited to reconnect virtually with your students via Learn at Home activities starting the week of April 13th.

In order to facilitate high quality Learn at Home activities we will provide a school-issued device for any student who needs one during this time. Devices will enhance the learning process and provide opportunities for students to interact with their teachers and classmates virtually. Interested families should complete a Device Request Form at bit.ly/msdwarrendevicerequest so we can prepare devices to be picked up. In order to facilitate a safe and efficient process our school has been assigned a date and time for devices to be picked up.

Lakeside Elementary ‘s assigned distribution date and times are: April 8, 2020, Grades K-2-9:00-12:00 and Grades 3-4 from 12:00-3:00.

The Device Request Form is accessible with any device (cell phone, computer, tablet). If you arrive without completing the form, you will be asked to complete the form before a device will be issued. During distribution, all family members should line up in each school's designated car rider line and remain in their vehicle at all times. A school staff member will meet you at your car to check-in and deliver the device to you.

Stay Safe & Take Care!

Mrs. Smith

Spirit Week!!!

OUT REACH

I also want to remind you about our updated food outreach plan. To provide increased quantities of meals and to lessen the need to travel on a daily basis, we are adjusting and expanding our food outreach program. We have added a Wednesday evening food outreach site at Post Road Christian Church and now Lakeside Elementary from 5:30 - 7:00. Wednesday locations will distribute a total of 8 meals. Starting next week, we will be distributing 6 meals on Tuesdays and 8 meals on Fridays at now 11 locations from 11:00 -1:00. Eastridge and Hawthorne will be added as Tuesday / Friday locations.

Finally, I want to provide two contact numbers you can reach out to for assistance. If you have questions about Learn at Home, device distribution, or technology, please contact our eLearning/Learn at Home hotline at (317-608-0545) or email MSDWarrenELEARNING@warren.k12.in.us.

If you find yourself in need beyond what is being offered, a District Community Outreach hotline and email have been created. You can either call 317-869-4308 or email MSDWarrenOutreach@warren.k12.in.us with your information. Someone from the district will contact you as soon as possible.

Please continue to monitor our website, mobile app, school newsletters, and our social media Twitter and Facebook accounts for updated information. Be safe!

How Can I Keep Them Busy? How Can I Keep Them Busy?

I have 2 children at home. If you're like me you're thinking, how can I keep them busy (& learning)? I've compiled some ideas appropriate for preschool-aged children and up. Over the course of the past few days, I've seen many educational companies offering free resources, so I've also included links to those sites for your convenience. Take care!

Scholastic

Scholastic has created a learn at home page:

www.scholastic.com/learnathome

The Scholastic Learn at Home website does not require a username or password and is open freely to all, on any device. They are designed to limit the need for printing and allow students to learn independently or with their families.

The site supports students with approximately three hours of learning opportunities per day, including projects, articles and stories, virtual field trips, reading and geography challenges, and more. These daily learning opportunities were carefully curated by our editors to reduce the burden on teachers and families needing to create meaningful learning experiences.
