Back to School Night
Hello Log College Families,
Back To School Night (BTSN) will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Log College beginning at 7:00 pm. Log College will open its doors at 5:45 p.m. as we will be hosting two additional events that evening prior to BTSN (more on that below). Side note: our school store will be open from 6:00-7:00 - Cash only.
After a brief welcome address from the principal, parents/guardians will follow their child’s Day 1 schedule. Each class will last eight minutes followed by a three minute transition period. The evening will conclude just before 8:15 p.m. Your child’s teachers will share with you a brief synopsis of what will be happening in their class and how to monitor progress through Canvas/Skyward/Other.
Your child will have completed a schedule before September 8. If he/she has not shared it with you, please be sure they do so before you arrive on Monday night. It looks something like this. Please make sure you bring this schedule with you. If you do not have it, you will likely miss time with your child’s teachers while we retrieve your schedule. If you forget or lose the form, you can fill out another using your child’s Day 1 schedule in Skyward.
Since you are reading this, I wanted to share some information regarding paperwork and a few upcoming events here at Log College:
Also on September 8: Our first Home and School Meeting will be at 6:00 in Room 28. Feel free to attend and then stick around for Back to School Night.
Ever had questions about PSSA testing? We will be hosting a Title I PSSA presentation at 6:00 on September 8 in our Library.
Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 10. (More information below)
6th Grade Bingo Night on Friday, September 19 - While we will distribute permission forms, you can click here for more information. (This activity is for 6th grade students only).
While we sell items in our school store, we also have apparel sales a few times a year. Currently, we are selling some high-quality Log gear here.
The YMCA will be present at BTSN. Once again, they will be offering a FREE Membership to all 7th grade students!
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We look forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Golderer
Fall Athletics
Tuesday, 9/2, Day 1
Concussion testing will be issued during the school day for potential athletes.
The first meeting date for 7th/8th graders who intend to play a Fall sport (Field Hockey, Boys Soccer, Football, Girls Volleyball, Cheerleading) will be Tuesday 9/2 from 3:00-4:15.
Students must have a completed PIAA physical in order to attend the first practice (Physical form is linked below).
Parents/Guardians: it is very important that students know their address as this makes our late bus process much easier.
7th Grade Trip to the Renaissance Fair
The 7th Grade will be traveling to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair on October 8. The cost is $50 per student. Students attending the trip must turn in their permission slips and medical forms by October 8 (we will provide paper copies on the first day of school, but the links are included below to offer more information).
Students must have a ride to and from school that day as the bus will leave LCMS at 7:00 am and return around 4:00 pm. If you would like to chaperone, the cost is $59, and you must complete the Parent Chaperone Information paperwork (linked below).
School Anxiety?
7:15 at the Log College MS Auditorium
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Katherine Dahlsgaard (Children should not attend this event).
TITLE: Ride-or-Die Parenting Strategies: Anxious Children Edition
SUMMARY:
What does the most up-to-date scientific literature support as the most effective parenting strategies for helping a child or teen experiencing anxiety?
What are the basic, ride-or-die anxiety management strategies that parents should absolutely know how to do? And, more importantly, why they should do them?
Dr. Katherine Dahlsgaard, a 20-year veteran of specialty treatment for pediatric anxiety disorders and former Director of CHOP’s Anxiety Behaviors Clinic and Picky Eaters Clinic, will describe the most science-backed and specific parenting strategies and give lots of engaging examples that are age-appropriate for the common anxiety concerns of elementary, middle, and high school students. She cares about parents and their sanity and she has a sense of humor.
