We have been back at school for three short weeks, and we have already accomplished so much. As I walk through the school each day, I am reminded that what makes us strong is not any single lesson, building, or accolade, but the bond we share as a community. Unity is the quiet thread running through everything we do, and it is a value I believe we must continue to nurture together.

Friday, 17th April saw the school take part in the first ever Football Shirt Friday event. In a month when the school's value was Unity, it was wonderful to see the community come together to raise money for the school. Organised by Mr Osman, the day saw children and staff come into school wearing sports clothes for a £1 donation. There were gymnasts and cheerleaders, martial artists and boxers, footballers and rugby players, hockey players and skiers roaming the halls. Each class, from Nursery up to Year 6 ran laps of the school, having asked friends and family for sponsorship.

The children and staff were supported throughout the day by Mr Osman and the sports leaders, who did an incredible job of keeping everything running smoothly.

The younger years had 20 minute slots, while UKS2 had 30 minutes. The aim was to complete as many laps as possible. Lots of staff also got in on the fun.

Eldridge, in Y4 ran the most laps in 20 minutes, completing 23 laps - that's less than a minute per lap. While Luayy in Y6 completed 29 laps in 30 minutes. I would also like to give a special shout-out to Alex, in Y5, who completed 33 laps throughout the day, both in his own slot and when helping children in younger year groups navigate the course.

Ms Angley and Mr Osman were the staff members who completed the most laps - very apt for our PE coach and our PE lead!

Well done everyone!

Our hard work paid off and we have raised an incredible £1940. The kist were given their first outing at the Lambeth football league finals. We will be ordering more in smaller sizes for our younger competitors and we'll get some equipment for the playground too.

Well done Stockwell!

We celebrated Eid in style. Ms Peres gathered the children to practise their assembly about Eid, which they delivered enthusiastically to the assembled audience. It is a huge challenge to pull together an assembly, and when the children are in and out, on trips and swimming and coming from lots of different year groups, it is particularly challenging. I would like to thank Ms Peres for all of her hard work. She was supported by Ms Rattigan and Ms Kingsbury and they did a great job.

The PTA worked tirelessly in the run up to the event, finding prizes, organising decorations, planning and preparing the food and selling raffle tickets.

I love it when our community comes together, and our Eid celebrations are a wonderful example of Stockwell at its best. When children grow up in a school where adults work hand in hand, where families feel welcome, and where every culture and background is celebrated, they learn far more than the curriculum can teach. They learn that they belong. They learn that difference is something to be embraced.

Our school meals play an important role in supporting children’s health, well-being, and learning. Nutritious, balanced meals help children stay focused throughout the day, support physical development, and provide the energy needed for active learning and play.

School lunches also encourage children to try a wider variety of foods, develop healthy eating habits, and enjoy mealtimes as a positive social experience with their peers. Our menus are carefully planned to meet nutritional guidelines and cater for a range of dietary needs.

By choosing school meals, families can be confident that children are receiving a healthy, well-balanced lunch that supports both their learning and overall well-being. We are proud of the role our school meals service plays in helping our children thrive.

Remember, all of our school meals are Halal.

Please see below for details of our upcoming Teddy Bears' Picnic Lunch.

Our stance on the use of social media and smartphones for underage children is clear. Last year, we made the decision to ban smartphones for pupils across our Federation in order to safeguard children, reduce distractions, and promote positive wellbeing. We're committed to helping families navigate the challenges of growing up in a digital world.

The Government is now carrying out a national consultation on further measures to help prepare children for the future amid rapid technological change. This includes proposals such as potential age restrictions on social media and other online services (including gaming platforms and AI chatbots), limits on addictive design features and risky functionalities, and stronger support for parents and families.

The consultation closes at 11:59pm on 26 May 2026. We encourage parents and carers to engage with the consultation and share their views to help shape future policy around children’s online safety and digital wellbeing.

Growing up in the online world: a national consultation

Thank you for being part of this community. Together, we are far greater than the sum of our parts, and together we can achieve excellence. I hope that you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend. I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of this half term and the Summer term bring!

Stockwell Shine in Dominant Run and Silver Cup Glory

Stockwell delivered an outstanding series of performances in recent fixtures, capping off their form with Silver Cup success and a string of emphatic league results.

In the latest round of matches, Stockwell showed their attacking strength with a convincing 5–0 win over VGP, alongside a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Hill Mead. Earlier in the day, they edged past Stockwell B 1–0, continuing a strong run of results that has seen them consistently outperform opponents.

Their earlier fixtures were just as impressive. Stockwell secured dominant victories against St Andrews (5–0) and Sudbourne Primary (5–0), underlining their consistency in front of goal. Meanwhile, Stockwell B also had a mixed set of results, including big wins against Bonneville Primary (5–0) and Streatham Wells (3–0), but suffered a setback against Granton (1–6).

The highlight of the campaign came in the Silver Cup, where Stockwell rose to the occasion. After a tense semi-final against Loughborough that ended 0–0, Stockwell held their nerve to win on penalties. They carried that momentum into the final, producing a commanding 4–1 victory over Van Gogh to lift the trophy and be crowned Silver Cup Winners.

Meanwhile, at the end of only their second season in the league, the girls finished the season triumphant, raising the trophy as the winners at the top of the league. Ably coached by Ms Ruiz, the girls have a huge amount to be proud of. They have worked so hard to come togther as a team, learning to listen to each other and cooperate. Unity was on display once again. Well done girls. Here's to next year.

A special mention goes to three standout performers who have been named Players of the Season:

  • Alexander (6K)
  • Jada Lei (6K)
  • Othman (6K)

All three have made a huge impact throughout the season, contributing with skill, consistency, and leadership on the pitch.

With silverware secured, standout individual performances, and strong community support, it’s been a memorable season for Stockwell. Both on and off the pitch, the team and its supporters have plenty to be proud of.

Unity means being together or being one. It can describe many different things, from music albums to places, and even parts of a space station! When things have unity, they work together or are connected in a special way.

The unity of the team is what won the game.

Stockwell showed unity when they raised money to buy kits for the school.

YouTube Kids promises a safe, child-centric experience with colourful visuals, age-filtered content, and robust parental controls. Designed to appeal to younger viewers, the app has grown rapidly, being used by tens of millions of children worldwide. But is it as safe as it seems?

Despite YouTube Kids’ safeguards, reports have highlighted worrying issues, such as inappropriate content slipping through filters, subtle advertising, and the use of manipulative design to keep children engaged. This guide from the National College explores how to navigate these pitfalls, offering practical advice for making sure children get the most from the platform – without the risks.

Friends of Stockwell (FOS) PTA

We have an active PTA, called Friends of Stockwell, who do a brilliant job of fundraising for the school and bringing the community together. It is great to see new faces taking part. Every parent is a Friend of Stockwell. I ask that everyone gets involved. If you can spare an hour per term (that's three hours per year), your contribution would make a huge difference.

Please email friendsofstockwell@gmail.com to get involved.

We are often asked how parents and carers can support the school. We have worked with the school to create an Amazon Wish List to enable parents, carers, friends and family members to buy items that the school really needs.

If you are in a position to support the school in this way, please have a look through, and if you see something you would like to buy, just follow the same process as you would if you were ordering something for yourself. Items will be delivered directly to the school, marked for the attention of the relevant teacher.

Attendance Attendance

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

Central to raising standards in all schools and ensuring all pupils can fulfil their potential is the need for children to attend school regularly to benefit from their education.

There is a strong link between good learning, high achievement, rapid progress and developing good social skills with excellent attendance.

We want to take this opportunity to outline our expectations for school attendance this academic year.

If your child arrives at school from 9am they will be marked as LATE, if they arrive after 9.30am, they will be classed as “late after the register is closed” and their attendance is classed as absent for the morning session. As the registers would have already been returned to the Department for Education.

Regular poor punctuality can also have a negative effect on your child’s attendance as well as their academic learning. Being 6 minutes late each day equals 30 minutes of missed learning every week.

If your child’s attendance drops below 90%, we will need to share our concerns with the Local Authority Education Welfare Officer at Lambeth Council.

Holidays in Term Time

Education Law states that it is not a parent’s right to take a child out of school during term time to go on holiday. Families must seek permission from the school and your school’s Headteacher is limited in what they can authorise. We can authorise leave if a child is in a performance and a performance license has been granted by the local authority. For any other authorised holiday, there must be extenuating circumstances therefore we cannot authorise a holiday because it is cheaper outside of term time.

Attendance Winners

What a great start to the term. We have managed to beat National expectations with attendance of 96%. Well done everyone!

School Uniform

School uniform should be worn throughout the school day. While we do not enforce that all school uniform should be branded, children should be wearing the correct colours (white t-shirt tops, navy trousers/ skirts/ pinafore dresses, sensible black shoes). Football boots/ coloured trainers are not school uniform and should not be worn.

Children should be changing into their PE kits for PE lessons (blue or black tracksuit bottoms, plain white t-shirt, trainers). We have made arrangements for girls and boys to be able to change separately, so the expectation is that all children change for PE.

While our supplier of school uniform is WearAbouts, we do have some items available for sale from the school office. Please check with us to see if we have what you need in stock.

Fostering in Lambeth

A new child comes into care every day in Lambeth. Many of these children will need the love and stability that a foster carer can provide.

What is fostering?

Being a foster parent means caring for someone else’s child as part of your family. Foster carers look after children who are unable to live with their parents, through no fault of their own. You'll be given lots of training and support, as well as allowances to cover living costs, the costs of food, travel and for the time you'll need to invest in supporting any child in your care.

Who can foster?

Lambeth Fostering welcome applications from everyone with a passion for caring. You just need to be over 21, have a spare room, good written and spoken English, and permanent UK residency.
