Dear KRS families,
Wow, today is the last day of January and February 7, 2025 will mark the 100th Day of School!
World Read Aloud day is on February 5, 2025 and media specialists/coaches Mrs. Calafati and Mrs. Mahon have planned engaging reading activities for the students aligned with our Madison Reads! district theme.
Our KRS "TV Studio" is up and running! Under the leadership of STEAM teacher Mrs. Conner, KRS students will be recording morning announcements to stream into the classrooms. The recording equipment was funded through a Madison Education Foundation grant submitted by Mrs. Conner.
As we approach Valentine's Day, please make sure to read the important Valentine's Day celebration letter included within this newsletter.

Looking for a Good Book about AI?
This week, I attended a book talk interview featuring Linkedin co-founder Reid Hoffman. His new book Superagency : What Could Possibly Go Right with Our AI Future seems to be a good read about the future of AI and how the evolution of AI may impact all of us. (including your wonderful children) I began reading his book this week and will continue this weekend.
Parent Book Club
The second meeting of the KRS Parent Book Club will be held via Zoom on February 5, 2025 from 7-8 PM. Everyone is invited to attend. To participate, all you need is a copy of the Anxious Generation by, Jonathan Haidt. Our second meeting will focus on pages 49-110 to include the following topics:

Chapter 2 What Children Need to Do in Childhood
Chapter 3 Discover Mode and the Need for Risky Play
