A Few Words From the Principal

Good evening on this potentially stormy night.

Today teachers spent time preparing for the rest of the school year and the return to our regular schedule. When students return on Tuesday we will be back to our regular 8 period day with W.I.N. time at the end of the day. We know some of our students struggled staying caught up with the block schedule and we encourage our students to use their W.I.N. time and Timberwolf Success Program after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:05-4:30 to get things turned in and their grades up. We want to see what they know and what they may still need support on from their teachers.

We hope everyone enjoys this long weekend. We will get back to work on Tuesday.

Take care and stay safe.

Share your input on future programing for students

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Our district is seeking your input as we plan for the future of our Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Pathway programs for students.

CTE /Pathway programs provide students with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to explore careers, earn certifications, and prepare for college and the workforce. We are also exploring ways to expand programming to better meet student needs and interests.

Your feedback will help guide decisions about:

  • Expanding current programs such as health science, construction, manufacturing, and more
  • Adding potential new programs like aviation, agriculture, and supply chain & logistics

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey:

USD232: Mission-Driven. Future Ready. - Parent Survey – Fill out form

The survey will remain open until April 24.

We appreciate your time and valuable input as we plan opportunities for our students’ futures.

Password Changes

The district has seen an increase in compromised student passwords recently. This is due to a variety of reasons, but if your student mentions that they have been assigned a new password, it is likely a result of a compromised account. The district is actively taking steps to increase student password security at the secondary level, which should be implemented this fall.

Teacher and Wolf Cart Supply Drive Community Service

For this semester's community service project, we are planning a supply drive to support a crucial part of the MTMS community - our teachers.

The PTA recently surveyed the teachers asking how we can better support their classrooms. We heard back from 38 teachers with examples of supplies they need for their classrooms and put together an Amazon Registry that you can shop from and send directly to the school, to arrive no later than 4/28!

https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3N821O230G3GB?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_763XN4MFSYYSX5C8TWBK

The most requested items:

Tissues

Pencils

Sharpies

Dry Erase Markers - Colorful

Stock the Wolf Cart

Snacks

Handwritten notes from students

If you'd rather purchase an item from the list on your own and bring it to the school, you are welcome to do that as well. Please send any donations to the office by 4/28.

One other note - Teacher Appreciation Week is starting May 4th, and we've heard from teachers time and again that something that is really meaningful to them and makes them feel appreciated is a genuine note from students. If you're not able to donate supplies, please consider a note to let your teachers know how much you appreciate their hard work!

Illness

To help control the spread of illness in our school please follow these illness guidelines:

Fever-Keep student home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication

Vomiting, Diarrhea, GI upset-keep home until symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

Respiratory Virus Illness (Covid, Influenza, RSV): Stay home until both are true, fever free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms are getting better.

When reporting your student absent due to illness please give a brief description of the illness such as sore throat, fever, vomiting, flu, strep throat. This will help with illness tracking and reporting to the health department. If reporting Influenza (Flu) please indicate the type of Flu such as Influenza A or Influenza B or tested with home test.

Attendance Reminder

Please remember to report absences and late arrivals to the school by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence reporting form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after 8:30. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office in advance so their attendance is appropriately marked).

MTMS Office Times

Due to staffing transitions, the MT office will close each day at 3:30pm (phones and physical office). We are available by phone from 7:35am until 3:30pm each school day. If you need to speak with us outside of these hours, please reach out via email.
