Raider Review
From the Office of the Principal
Dear Students & Parents/Guardians,
The start of the 2026-2027 school year is quickly approaching! First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Mrs. Endicott, the Principal of Flushing Middle School. This is my fourth year in the position. I was most recently an Assistant Principal at Grand Blanc High School and I have a background in teaching both math and English at the middle school and high school level.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you over the next few weeks. Schedule pick-up, Open House, and the fall all-sports meeting are all good opportunities for students and parents to get familiar with the building. The staff and I look forward to working together this year to ensure an enjoyable and challenging year.
- Mrs. Endicott

* Remember - we don't switch your classes just so you can be with your friends!
Phones
Per our student handbook, students are only able to have phones before school, after school, and during lunch. Otherwise, phones should be kept in your locker. (Not in your pocket!) Please remind your student there are consequences for violating the cell phone policy!
If you need to get a hold of your student in the event of a family emergency, it is best to call the main office. Our main line number is 810-591-2800.
Important Reminders!
Because each student is provided with a locker for storage of books and school supplies, students are NOT allowed to carry book bags, purses, backpacks, or other personal items to class.
Unless students are involved in specific after-school activities (with adult supervision), or are working directly with staff, they are NOT allowed to "hang out" in the building after school. If your student does not ride the bus, please make sure your student is picked up promptly after school.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Back to School Assembly
Each year, staff works hard to plan a kick-off assembly for our students. This provides an opportunity for staff and administration to review building expectations, procedures, and positive behavior incentives. This year, the assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd. Your student will have an altered schedule that day. If possible, please block this off on your calendar so students can attend the assembly in the morning.
We also encourage you to have a conversation with your student that evening around the topics covered. After the assmebly, students should know how to qualify for Challenge Day, Cedar Point, Washington DC, and other Raider Rewards. We hope you encourage your student to follow the YOE way!

Student Entry
This year our transportation department is fully staffed! This means no students will have to get picked up early or have a late bus at the end of the day.
Students will be able to enter the building at 7:25AM.
Breakfast will start at the same time.
Doors will remain locked until 7:25AM.
Please pull all the way forward when you drop your student off in the morning. Encourage your student to exit the car quickly to keep the line moving.
Communication
Flushing Community Schools offers a text notification service through School Messenger. These messages can be received in addition to phone messages. Just text YES to 67587 to sign up. Text messaging fees may apply.
You can also find Flushing Middle School on Facebook! Facebook is one way to get up-to-date news about what is happening at FMS. Look the for the Facebook icon on the Flushing Middle School home page.
If you have not downloaded the Flushing Community Schools mobile app yet, you are missing out! Once downloaded, you will receive district-wide announcements and notifications. This is a great way to know when district-wide news has been posted on the website or Facebook. To download the app, go to the Google Play or Apple App Store and search Flushing Community Schools. If you need help downloading the app, please call Mary Ann Korte at 810-591-1197.
Physical Education
We are requesting all students wear a grey or orange shirt and black shorts without “logos” for physical education class. PE uniform shirts are available to purchase at schedule pick-up or in your student’s class. The cost is $10. Uniforms can also be “recycled” from older siblings. Each student will be asked to write their name on their uniform, making it easy for students and teachers to identify in the event the uniform is misplaced. If this creates a financial hardship in your family, please contact the office. We are able to assist those with financial need.
Advisory Period
The Advisory period is an important aspect of Flushing Middle School life. This twenty-five minute period is used for extra academic assistance, discussions related to FMS rules, and presentations surrounding topics important to this age group. Jostens 'Harbor' is a key component of our Advisory curriculum. During the 2026-2027 school year, Advisory will start our day. Like all class periods, students are required to be there on time. Students earn a grade in Advisory and the grade and attendance count toward the ability to participate in other activities.
Please welcome the following new staff:
- MS Band Director/HS Assistant Director: Jacob Steinberger
- Ashely Keen: 7th grade Science
- Catrina Acklin: 8th grade Science
- Owen Nelson: Student teacher with Austin Cook
- Christina LeGrow: Social Work intern
Absence Line
If your child is going to be absent or late to school on any given day,
please call the absence line at 810-591-2810.
Also, if you need to pick up your child early from school, please send your child with a note to the office in the morning. We will write your child a pass to get out of class, in order to not interrupt the teacher and learning environment.
Picture Day!
School pictures are on September 8th and
retakes/make-ups are September 18th.
Watch your email for communication from Alternative Photography to purchase a picture package!
Note from Technology
Our technology department takes the summer months to clean, repair, and evaluate the student Chromebooks. Your student will be issued a Chromebook for this school year during schedule pick up. If this Chromebook happens to get damaged this year, please encourage your student to bring it to the library before school so our technology department can process a repair. Taking your device to a local repair shop is going to be more costly for your family and can cause more issues in the long term.
Also, as an increased security measure, 7th grade students will be receiving a new password for the fall. Students will get the new password in Advisory on the first day of school.
Your Chromebook should be with you at school every day - including the first one! Many textbooks and other resources are now housed digitally and it is important for students to have a fully charged device.
