Hello Everyone,

This week the students continued learning about the different Zones as part of the Zones of Regulation curriculum. Our focus was on the Green Zone, which represents feeling calm, happy, focused, and ready to learn. The children practiced recognizing when they are in the Green Zone and learned strategies to help themselves stay there.

You can support this at home by pointing out times when your child seems calm and focused, and naming it as the Green Zone. You might say, “I notice you’re calm and ready to play, looks like you’re in the Green Zone!” This helps your child build awareness of their feelings and connect language to their experiences.

As the fall season has officially begun, we are excited to announce our plans for the Fall Fest this year. Instead of a whole-school event, each classroom will host its own Fall Fest day. Family members will be invited in to participate in fall-themed activities alongside their child. Fall Fest days will take place during the week of October 14–17. Please refer to your child’s individual teacher newsletter or weekly update for the specific date and time for your classroom celebration.

With the recent rainy days, we’ve been making the most of our time in the gym for indoor recess. The children had a wonderful time riding in the little coupe cars and building with the giant magnetic tiles and big blue blocks. These activities provided plenty of opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and gross motor play.

Take Care,

Amanda

📖 School Site Council: Parent Members Needed 📖 📖 School Site Council: Parent Members Needed 📖

We are looking for parent representatives to join our School Site Council. Parent voices are an integral part of the conversations with administrators and teachers, and your input helps guide important decisions for our school community.

The Massachusetts Department of Education requires each School Site Council to work with the principal in:

  • Adopting educational goals that align with local and statewide standards

  • Identifying the educational needs of students in the school

  • Reviewing the annual school building budget

  • Developing a school improvement plan

Meetings are held once a month after school and last approximately 60 minutes.

If you are interested in serving on this year’s School Site Council, please email acurley@ashland.k12.ma.us and share a brief note about your interest.
