Thank you, Lyon County 4-H community

We’re inspired by the hard work, resilience, and talent shown by our 4-H members—especially during a fair season full of weather challenges. Your dedication to learning, growing, and making a difference proves our future is bright. Well done, 4-H'ers.

A heartfelt thank you to our club leaders for your invaluable support and guidance, and to our animal superintendents for your leadership and tireless efforts in organizing shows, securing sponsors, and keeping everything on track.

Superintendents:
Beef: Grant Wichmann, Kelly Heather, Jesse Johns
Dairy: Janelle Louwagie
Dog: Jean Goslar, Lacie Truwe
Horse: Traci Olson
Llama: Mary Beth Sinclair
Meat Goat: Paul Lanoue
Poultry: Jordan Moorse, Alyssia Coudron
Rabbit: Roxanne Boerboom, Alicia Swenhaugen, Connie Moen, Ronda Kobylinski
Sheep: Leah Bueltel

Thanks to the Ribbon Auction Committee—Clint Gehrke, Pat Remiger, Angie DeVos, Paul Lanoue, and Greg Carlson—for helping raise a record-breaking $121,000. 80% of those funds go straight back to our 4-H'ers.

We also appreciate everyone who volunteered at the fair, especially those working the snack shack and food stand. A special shoutout to Cassandra Stidman for managing it all so smoothly.

Thank you to Vince Wambeke for his excellent stewardship as Federation treasurer, and to our State Fair chaperones: Lacie Truwe, Jeremy Pease, and Charlie Olson.

Finally, deep thanks to the Lyon County Fair Board and all who helped with setup and cleanup. Your dedication is what makes our fair—and our 4-H program—such a success.

Here’s to another amazing year in Lyon County 4-H.

4-H project record.

4-H emphasizes more than merely doing to learn. It involves learning by doing, sharing, comprehending, connecting, and applying. Maintaining a record of your experiences helps you think back on them so you can share and learn from them. Youth can receive up to three record awards at the year-end Round Up Banquet in November. The 3 should be noted on their records. Record book covers are available at the Extension Office. Call or visit us during the hours of M-W 8:00–4:30 p.m. and Th 8:00–2:30 p.m. The Extension Office must receive all records by October 22, 2025. Record judging is scheduled for October 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. Cloverbud records do not get judged at the County level

Record judges are also necessary. The work would be simplified if each club could provide at least one judge, ideally two. At your September meeting, please talk about who from your club might be willing to go.

Records can be found on our website under Resources. Click here.
