Welcome back!
Dear OCEAN Families and Students,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful summer. While campus may have been quiet without our students, our staff have been busy preparing for the year ahead, and we are so excited to welcome everyone back!
This year, our staff will be reading Hope Rising: How the Science of Hope Can Change Your Life by Casey Gwinn and Chan Hellman. As a staff, we’ll be learning more about the science of hope and exploring how hope can make a meaningful difference in our students’ lives. We are committed to creating a school environment where every student feels known, supported, capable, and hopeful about their future.
We are also looking forward to continuing our Connected Learning experiences with our community partners. These partnerships give our students opportunities to take their learning beyond the classroom, engage with our community, and connect what they are learning in school to the world around them.
Academically, we have a strong focus this year on building and strengthening math and language arts skills for all students. We will continue to support each student in developing the skills and confidence they need to be successful, while keeping learning engaging, meaningful, and connected to their interests and goals.
And, of course, there is plenty to look forward to beyond the classroom! We have some exciting themed student learning exhibitions planned throughout the year, giving students opportunities to share their learning, creativity, and accomplishments with our community. We also have some wonderful field trips and learning adventures ahead that will bring new experiences and opportunities for our students to explore.
We are excited to welcome back our returning students and families and to welcome those who are new to the OCEAN community. With a dedicated staff, wonderful community partners, and our amazing students, we are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, connection, adventure, and hope.
Here’s to a fantastic school year together!
Warmly,
Sarah Rubenstein
Principal
