APRIL 2022 NEWSLETTER
Ogden Elementary School
Message from Ms. Johnson, Principal
We are in the final stretch of the school year, we need students present daily and on time. Our 3rd-5th grade students are preparing to take their upcoming STAAR Test and we will be providing parents with additional resources and support to help their child at home. Please help us finish the year STRONG and ensure students are coming to school ready to learn and in dress code, thank you for your support.
Counselor’s Corner
Dear Parents:
As the weather turns nicer it is wonderful to see the students at school out and about in the hallways and outside during home base and flex. With only 8 weeks left in the school year we want to remind students and families that there is still a lot of work to do. We hope you all can find balance and do fun things while also finishing off the academic year strongly. If you are having trouble in your classes please reach out to your teacher or counselor and we will work with you to get caught up before it is too late.
Nurse Wilson's Corner
Hello everyone! I’m so honored to be working as School Nurse at Ogden Elementary. I have worked as a School and Camp Nurse for almost 13 years now. It brings me great joy to be of assistance to our students as well as our staff. For my first article for the school’s newsletter, I would like to talk about two very important things. The first is our Covid Update. Current guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, intended to help communities assess their need for restrictions to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus, suggest that 90 percent of Americans can now stop wearing masks. Thus, our school has also lessened the use of masks. As always, use your own discretion in realizing that you are your most important health advocate. You know your limitations and what is best for your well-being during this time. Please do not hesitate to speak with me if you have further questions. Good news is that Covid cases have diminished greatly and people over 50 can now benefit from a second booster. (CDC Reference).
The second topic is water. In my short time at Ogden, I have found that our student body is lacking in drinking water. Getting enough water every day is important for your health. Drinking water can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, result in mood change, cause your body to overheat, and lead to constipation and kidney stones.

The More You Know.....
Water helps your body:
Keep a normal temperature.
Lubricate and cushion joints.
Protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues. Get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.
Your body needs more water when you are:
In hot climates.
More physically active.
Running a fever.
Having diarrhea or vomiting.
Most of your fluid needs are met through the water and beverages you drink. You can get some fluids through the foods that you eat – especially foods with high water content, such as many fruits and vegetables.
A Tip to drink more water: Carry your water bottle with you and refill during the day. Let’s lead by example and encourage our students to drink more water!
